Dear BPS Families and Staff,
We hope that everyone is well and fully recovered from our experiences with Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. We did close operations during those storms and missed four days of instruction. Due to those closures, we must adjust our academic calendar to ensure we provide the required instructional minutes as mandated by state statutes. We worked with our different employee groups to formulate these changes.
· Extended Days: The following Fridays will be full school days (not early release).
o November 1
o November 8
o November 15
o November 22
o December 6
· Makeup Days: We are operating full school days on the following dates:
o Monday, February 17, 2025, will be a full school day. This was originally scheduled as a Student Holiday/Teacher Professional Development Day.
o Friday, April 18, 2025, will be a full school day. This date was originally scheduled as a Holiday for All.
*The only exception is that Friday April 18 will remain a holiday for Challenger 7 Elementary School, due to its modified calendar.
We understand that these changes may cause some inconvenience, but it is our priority to ensure our students receive the instruction they need while also maintaining safety and flexibility. If your family faces any unique challenges due to these adjustments, please don't hesitate to reach out to your school's administration for support.
