STEM Around Brooklyn
Pre-K
Pre-K continued exploring solids and liquids in their PLTW module. They took several objects and tested if they sink or float!
Kindergarten
Kindergarten finally got their adopted cow! Dottie comes from Lueken Dairy Farm in Birdseye, Indiana.
First Grade
1st grade is starting a new PLTW module on light and sound. They found items around the STEM lab that create light and items that create sound.
Second Grade
2nd grade finished their unit on bats by making artwork showing bats at sunset!
Third Grade
3rd grade wrapped up our Human Body unit with a visit from the district nurses. They showed us a cow heart, helped us watch digestion in action, looked at x-rays of broken bones, and labeled the systems of the body as review!
Fourth Grade
4th grade is learning about frequency and amplitude. We plugged a small speaker into a chromebook and went to a website that allowed us to change frequency and amplitude. We observed salt moving and bouncing, which increased in speed as we increased frequency and amplitude!
Cereal Drive Success!
Brooklyn families donated 112 boxes of cereal during the MSD of Martinsville's Cereal Drive! With your generosity, we won the competition of the most cereal donated!
Coin Wars Results
Our community showed amazing support during our Hope for Ella Coin Wars fundraiser organized by our Brooklyn STEM PTO! The class winner was Ms. Dragonette's second grade class with 63, 656 points! In total, we raised over $5000!
Family Pantry Dates
MSD of Martinsville's Family Pantry dates are Thursdays, 11/14, 12/12, 01/09, 02/13, 03/13, 04/10, and 05/15 between 11am-1pm located in the back of Wooden Middle School (109 E. Garfield Street). Enter the school's one-way road from Sycamore Street.
