Jax State | November 2024
Happy Thanksgiving CDC Families!
We look forward to seeing serving you this month and showing you just THANKFUL we are for the families of the Child Development Center.
November 2024 Calendar
Take a PEEK at what's been happening around the CDC!
The CDC was blessed to be able to have several BIG, group activities during the month of October that allowed all of our classrooms to interact with each other. Check out some snapshots from the fun below 🔽
ASL with Mr. Alex!
American Sign Language (ASL) has been proven to help babies communicate better and sooner, as well as leading to higher reading levels in toddlers to young children. Learning ASL enhances cognition and improves hand/eye coordination.
The JSU Child Development Center is excited to welcome one of our newest student workers, Alex, who brings to the table his fluency in ASL! The children at the center will be experiencing weekly ASL lessons with Alex this semester.
Thank you for teaching us Mr. Alex!
Hispanic Heritage Month - Dress Up Parade
What's a more fun and festive way to wrap up Hispanic Heritage Month here at the CDC then with a PARADE!

Our infants are enjoying the fall leaves!
October kicked off our tree studies!
These babies enjoy making a sensory tree with friends.
Since October is Fire Safety Month, the children of the JSU Child Development Center were treated to some EXTRA fire safety fun!
Our friends from the Jacksonville Alabama Fire Department taught us how to crawl low during a fire, demonstrated the truck lights and sirens, and answered questions from inquisitive minds this morning. We even had a couple of teachers who got to become "real" firemen!
Thanks for spending the morning with us JFD!! We love our Community Helpers
Happy Halloween from the Infants!

Here is a look at all the fun we had the past month!
👻🎃 Prepping for Halloween, our 3-year-olds participated in an extra special activity... “Mummy Wrap Race”! They worked on their team building and gross motor skills all while having fun.
The three’s enjoyed talking about the different parts of trees. We learned that trees can grow from an acorn, and lots of times, squirrels are the ones who plant them. They got to see the roots coming out of an acorn, along with the tree starting to grow. Then we ended our discussion exploring the different parts of trees!

This exciting new program teams teachers with well-trained therapy animals...allowing them to visit schools, improving the health and well-being of students.
Our PreK 1 Classroom enjoyed a visit from Ms. Angela and Louie, the poodle. It's safe to say the children LOVED it!! Thank you for visiting us!
*We would also like to say a big congratulations and THANK YOU to PreK Lead Teacher, Brittany Craig, for taking the time to apply for the "Dogs in the Classroom" grant and for being selected. Her dedication certainly paid off for her students!

Pre-K 2 had the best time with our FCS lab student, Miss G and her pumpkin explosion science experiment! Students were able to predict whether water or vinegar mixed with baking soda would make me the pumpkins explode. Then, they were able to check their predictions with the experiment results. Way to go Miss G! We love learning with you!
Show and share with letter D in Pre-K 2!
