Tisdale Middle & Secondary School
Principal's Message
Thank you to all the TMSS friends and family members who supported our middle year’s Mom’s Pantry Products fundraiser. These funds all go toward student sports teams and clubs, and hosting fun events, like our Spring Fling school dance. In addition, we appreciate the support we had with our Mother’s Day fundraiser in conjunction with Tisdale Florists. Such an easy, but cute, project! We have sold a lot of raffle tickets for our Tornado quilt (handmade by a local quilter, Chris Keays) thus far, but we do have a few more left to sell before the June 1 draw. Feel free to buy online at the TMSS website: https://publicforms.nesd.ca/store/home/
Congratulations to our senior curling team (Travis Holmstrom, Adyson Prevost, Jaycee Prevost, and Brecken Whitelaw) who won a Sportsmanship banner at their provincial bonspiel in March. We had a formal presentation by Mr. Dave Sandomirsky, executive director of the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association, at our school assembly. SHSAA, sponsored by SaskMilk, also provided our students with free milk.
Our grade six students participated in the Language Festival at Nibwakawigamig Kinistin Education Centre, and enjoyed a full day learning about the Saulteaux culture and Nakawe language, along with a few other NESD students. Our grade sixes are also planning a tea. Stay tuned for more information.
Despite STF job action, our badminton team finished their season with limited interruption. Track and field athletes have started mini-meet competitions leading to the provincial meet in Saskatoon in June. The Tornado archers competed in provincials in Moose Jaw on May 25th. It’s good to see a lot of sporting opportunities for our youth in this community.
Thank you for your continued support,
Carmen Messer
Congratulations to Onalee Nagy, the Winner of the TMSS Playscape Quilt Raffle!

"SOLE"-stice Classic Track Meet
The “SOLE-stice Classic” is series of grass roots meets across the province for young athletes to get involved in running, jumping and throwing competitions. This program is being sponsored by the Aboriginal Track and Field of Saskatchewan plus Saskatchewan Athletics.
The term “SOLE-stice” comes from the idea that the “final provincial meet” will be held near the longest day of the year. The meets are geared for younger athletes who may not get many opportunities to compete against others their age in their region or from across the province. To get involve, go the website www.solesticeclassic.com ; click on “Melfort”. The Melfort Meet is being held on June 12th. Complete the computer online entry process as shown below. The best part is that no entry fees are charged to participate. The “Top 2” athletes from each regional meet can advance to the “SOLE-stice Classic – Provincial Finals” in Saskatoon on Sat. June 22nd .
The emphasis of the meets is to have fun while getting young athletes to be active through competition. Pass this information onto anyone you know who have athletes that could be involved.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Boys and girls between ages 8 to 13.
Age group classifications are determined by the participant’s Year of Birth.
Athletes can possibly qualify in a maximum of four events.
