Did you know there is a Farmers Market in Tumwater? Come join us on the Peter G. Schmidt campus the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month (11 am to 3 pm) from June through September. The Tumwater Farmers Market hosts several vegetable growers, berries can be found in June, and fresh food vendors participate in the Farmers Market Nutrition Program and are ready to receive senior FMNP checks for healthful fresh food. Enjoy live music weekly, local bakers, coffee, handcrafted soaps and creams, sweet and savory sauces, local port and beef. We hope to see you there!
The Kids Closet Clothing Bank (coordinated in Tumwater for Tumwater families) is in need of someone to help with laundry from collected items to prepare them for distribution to families. We are excited to share that Meagan Dawson has accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent – Teaching & Learning, effective July 1, 2024. Meagan (pronounced Mee-gun) is an exceptional educational leader with extensive experience and a proven track record in educational administration, making her a valuable addition to the Tumwater team.
Meagan has served as the principal at Kulshan Middle School in Bellingham since 2015, and during that time has been involved in multiple District Leadership opportunities and initiatives. She describes herself as a champion of diversity and has led multiple district and building-level projects. Prior to her time in Bellingham, she served as the Federal and State Programs Director at Burlington-Edison School District. She also served as principal at a Dual-Language school from 2006-2011. Meagan has been serving as a district administrator since 2004 and brings a depth of knowledge and experience that will bring great benefit.
Meagan holds professional growth and development as one of her cornerstones as evidenced by her professional development and education. She holds a certificate in education finance, EdD in Educational Leadership, Superintendent credentials, administrative certification, Master’s Degree in Secondary Education and Teacher Certification in Language Arts from Western Washington University, and Bachelors in English from University of Washington.
We are confident that Meagan Dawson’s wealth of experience and passion for public education will greatly benefit our district. Please join us in welcoming Megan to the TSD family!
What are Sun Bucks? This is a Summer EBT Program to support children who lose access to free and reduced-price school meals during the summer.
