CLASSROOM WALKTHROUGHS: Agenda, Learning Targetss and Success Criteria
1. AGENDA
Please make sure this is posted everyday and the students are writing this in their planners.
2. Learning Target and Success Criteria: WHAT ARE THEY?
A Simple Way to Remember:
- Learning Intention (Target) = What is it that I want you to learn? (I CAN STATEMNTS)
Success Criteria = Things that you can observe. What will you use as concrete evidence of learning?
Last year, the Leadership Team decided on a common language when we are presenting and holding our students accountable for understanding the knowledge and ultimately demonstrating the knowledge learned.
IF students know what is expected of them at the end of each lesson and it is clear how you expect them to learn it, THEN we should see academic success and content knowledge increase.
We have decided on using the language of: Please use these words and format.
POST YOUR :
Learning Target or Target: This is what we want students to know and what they are academically aiming for during each lesson.
Success Criteria or Tool or Activity: This is how the students will obtain the knowledge or the LEARNING TARGET.
Goal or "I got it...": This is how the students will monitor themselves so they can take ownership of their knowledge.
EXAMPLES:
Learning Target: I can write a linear equation using the form y=mx+b
Success Criteria: I can identify the slope from a table, graph, or situation ! I can identify the y-intercept from a table, graph or situation ! I can identify the x- and y- coordinates of a point when given a table, graph or equation.

ADVISORY INFORMATION
September Advisory/ HOMEROOM
You will do the same thing every week!
This time will go fast! We decided as a school to use planners so the students can be more organized and it helps with communication with our parents. The expectation is for ALL students to write in their planners every period every day. We will check that they have written down the homework or what was completed in each class during advisory. This should be the first thing they get out for you every day after you great them at the door!
We are going to positively reward all the students who fill out their planners with a chance to enter the weekly drawing! MORE TO COME.
September Advisory Expectations
- We will be asking you to review area expectations with students every Monday.
- Please have the students take the First Day of School Survey.
