Be Safe, Exercise Responsibility, Engage in Learning, and Practice Kindness!
Reynolds' Report
Hello Roadrunner Families!
I had such a blast building marshmallow launchers at science night with our students! Thank you for coming and enjoying the fun with us. It was really great to see families working together to complete the engineering and physics tasks we had to experiment with!
This week is our October meeting of the Parent Teacher Organization. Join us to help put the finishing touches on our Fall Harvest Festival planning and see how you can help ensure this event goes smoothly! These meetings are always fun, with lots of laughter. We hope you can join!
A new month also means College and Career Wear Friday! As an AVID school, one of our goals is to ensure that students learn about all of the opportunities that will be available to them after they graduate from high school. We aim to show students many different college and career opportunities so they know there is more available to them than being a Youtuber! On College and Career Wear Friday, we encourage everyone to wear a shirt that represents a college or career that is interesting to them. I can't wait to see what kind of college and career wear your student comes up with this Friday!
Have a beautiful week, Roadrunners!

Topic of the Week
Portrait of a Learner with the Student Senators!
In this week's assembly, our Student Senators presented the work they did in their District Student Senate meeting this week. Our Senators did a great job of introducing the District Portrait of a Learner, which are the characteristics we hope our students will have as learners throughout their educational career.
Our focus this fall is on Kindness! Ask your student about some ways they plan to be kind at school this month!

This student event is a fun tradition each year. Students may wear their school appropriate Halloween costumes on October 31st and we will parade from classroom to classroom to trick'or'treat the classroom doors!
How can you help?
- Ensure that your students costume is free from blood, weapons, and is dress code appropriate.
- Donate candy or trinkets to your student's classroom!
- Send your student with a bucket or bag to collect their treats in.
- Ask your student's teacher if they need someone to pass out candy or trinkets at the door.
We are proud participants in the Teal Bucket Project, so many teachers will have teal buckets filled with trinkets for students with food allergies so they can safely participate in the event!

Box Tops collection continues digitally all year with the Box Tops app. First Street School gets $0.10 for each Box Top scanned for our school. While that isn't much on its own, the whole school community collecting them from Participating Products throughout the year can earn enough to pay for things like software memberships, supplies for classroom activities, or other low cost school support.
- Earn Box Tops for participating products by scanning receipts with the Box Tops app.
- When you shop online or use delivery services, you can earn Box Tops by forwarding your e-receipt to receipts@boxtops4education.com or by uploading it with the Box Tops app. Learn more about submitting e-receipts here.
