France Exchange Interest Survey
Rejoignez-nous pour accueillir les étudiants français à New Fairfield !
Are you ready to embark on a cultural exchange without leaving the comfort of your home? Join us in welcoming students from the Loire Valley of France for a brief stay during the 2024-25 school year. This opportunity is part of a well-established exchange program, which also includes student travel. The French students are eager to immerse themselves in American life, practice their English, and share their culture, providing cross-cultural connections for our students. Your participation in this survey is invaluable: by filling out the survey to express your interest, you're helping to lay the groundwork for a potential cultural exchange. Host families are not obligated to send their students to France.
School Day SAT for Juniors Begin on MONDAY!
Information for Junior Families
To Class of 2025 Families;
An email was sent to juniors earlier this week regarding their SAT test date, the room number and a Student Guide. Since the SAT is now digital, NFHS will provide students with a Chromebook and scratch paper (just as was the case in the fall for the PSAT).
Students were informed to bring a calculator (although the digital test has one built into the software.) and a writing utensil.
Students will be testing on a particular day (either March 25, 26 or 27). Since the test is digital, we cannot make changes to rosters at this time. Students who miss their test will have an opportunity to make it up on March 28th on the make up day.
Most students will test during the first two blocks of the day (the test will be over by 10:00). After the test, students will go to their REBEL session and continue classes for the rest of the day. If a student has extended time, the test will end at approximately 11:15. Students will go to their classes.
Please understand that students should be staying in school. Rules regarding attending co-curricular events such as sports and the arts are in effect.
If you have any questions, please contact your child's counselor.
Together In Wellness: Vaping
Understanding What Teens Are Vaping
While most New Fairfield High School students are not vaping (86%)*, some reported current use of e-cigarettes or vape devices. Of those students who reported vaping in the last 30 days, the substance they vape breaks down as follows*:
- 41.5% tobacco/nicotine
- 63.4% marijuana
- 31.7% flavored liquids without nicotine
Very few e-cigarettes or vapes on the market are simply flavored liquid. It is important to have conversations with youth about the effects of nicotine and cannabis on their brains. Take a look at these fact sheets (linked below)
From the FDA- Understanding Nicotine
From the Talk They Hear You Campaign from SAMHSA- Talking with Your Teen about Marijuana
