Important Dates:

Monday Folders are coming home today. Please read through the various paperwork and return anything that needs to be signed. Thank you!

Graded papers will also be in the Monday folders. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

7:05 am: School opens for breakfast

7:30 am: Tardy bell rings, instruction begins

10:15 am: Mrs. Macchia's conference time/ rotation for students

11:05 am: Lunch

1:25 pm: Recess

3:45 pm: Dismissal

Please send your child to school with a snack and a water bottle daily. If you would like to send in a snack to share with the class, we would also welcome that.

Students will identify the story structure of the fictional text by telling the beginning, middle, and end.

Students will identify the author's purpose for writing.

Students will begin a discussion on inference and the central idea in stories.

Throughout the week we will read many books. Here are some of the books we will read this week.

First graders need to know an assortment of sight words to help them read. By the end of the school year, our students should know the 1st 100 Fry sight words.

Spelling words: dot, pot, not, sob, pod, but, nut, mud, bud, cub

Students will focus on words with the short /o/ and short /u/ sound.

Students will identify alliteration and rhyme.

Students will write simple sentences.

Students will listen for and list nouns.

Students will subitize a set of objects.

Students will create number bonds to decompose numbers.

Students will identify parts that make a whole.

Students will discuss authority figures in a community.
