Dear Parents & Community Members,

It’s happening! We are transitioning to five days of in-person instruction on Monday, March 29, and we are so excited to have our students back each weekday!

I am so proud of our entire team and all they have done to make this next transition possible for our students.

Safety remains a top priority for our students and staff and we have extensive safety measures in place to keep our TTUSD community healthy. These measures reduce health and safety risks for all. They include:

• redesigned classrooms with more spacing between each desk in alignment with the state’s latest guidelines.

• handwashing and sanitizing stations throughout each school site

• desk shields for every student at every desk

• one-way paths of travel

• prominent signage at each campus with reminders to practice distancing

• MERV-13 air filters (CDPH’s recommendation) installed

• air purifiers in each classroom, thanks to support from the Excellence in Education Foundation

Please help us to keep our students and staff safe. Be diligent about practicing safety protocols both in and out of school. Safety is non-negotiable and we must all do our part to stay healthy.

At no time should anyone come on campus if they are ill.

What to expect for next week:

• New bell schedules go into effect on Monday, March 29 for all students in all of our schools as we welcome back our in-person learners to five days of in-person instruction.

North Tahoe High School- 8:00 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.

North Tahoe School - 9:00 a.m. -1:25 p.m.

Tahoe Lake Elementary - 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Truckee Schools:

Alder Creek Middle School - 7:45 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.

Donner Trail Elementary - 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Glenshire Elementary - 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

SELS - 9:05 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.

Sierra High School - 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

The health and safety of our students, staff, and families are of the utmost importance and it’s been guiding all we do for an outstanding school year.

REMINDER:

Before arriving at school- screening at home must take place each school day:

• Make screening part of your morning routine! Families must conduct a health assessment each morning before leaving for school or getting on a school bus. Students and adults should self-screen for respiratory symptoms such as cough, congestion, or shortness of breath, as well as nausea, fever, chills, or body aches. Students and adults experiencing those symptoms should not come on campus.

• Families are recommended to take temperatures daily before going to school. Anyone with a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher should not go to a school site. Personal illness, quarantine, and COVID-19 illness or symptom-related absences will be excused.

• Any adult accessing campus must conduct a self-assessment before coming to any school facility. If a person is experiencing symptoms, they should stay home and will not be admitted on campus.

Arriving at school:

• Parents that are dropping off their children must remain in their car.

• If you carpool, be sure to mask up!

• All students and staff members are required to wear face coverings.

• Each TTUSD school site has designated routes for entry and exit to limit direct contact with others.

• Each TTUSD school site has signage throughout campus to remind students and staff about social distancing, hand washing, and how to avoid spreading germs.

We want to remind all parents and students that COVID-19 protocols outlined by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) remain in place when we return to five days per week of in-person instruction. Part of this protocol includes requiring individuals who are symptomatic and/or had direct contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 to quarantine. The district is still adhering to the "direct exposure" rule, so a student is considered a direct contact when the student is within six feet of the positive case.

As a reminder, if your child has one or more of these COVID-19 symptoms, it is required that you keep your child home and notify the school. If your child develops symptoms while at school, the school will require that the student be picked up and it is recommended that the child get tested for COVID-19. Below is a breakdown of the quarantine timeline in the event your child is required to quarantine:

• If you choose to have your child tested for COVID-19 and their test is negative, they can return to school once they are fever-free for 24 hours and symptoms are improving. If the test result is positive, they will need to stay home for 10 days from symptom onset.

• If you choose not to have your child tested, they will need to stay home for the full 10 days from symptom onset.

Free Suicide Prevention 101 for Parents Webinar on April 7, 2021

This free webinar will provide information about suicide prevention for parents, including warning signs for suicide, how to have a conversation with their child, actions to take if their child is having suicidal thoughts, and resources.
