Presidential Elections from PBS Learning Media
This special episode of News Quiz explores the process of electing a U.S. president. The program features information about the requirements to become a presidential candidate, the duties of the president, how and when people vote, and how votes are counted— including the Electoral College.
News Quiz is KET’s weekly 15-minute current events series for students. The program consists of news segments, a current events quiz and opinion letters from students around the world. You can find news stories about candidates and the current election on regular, weekly episodes of the show.

19 Ways to Help Elementary Students Self-Regulate
School is all about giving students the skills they need to succeed. That certainly applies to reading, writing, and math, but students also need the fundamental skill of self-regulation. These tips can easily be used at home too when emotions are big and children are having trouble managing their feelings.
“I found that thinking about behavior objectively—as a skill to be taught rather than simply as good or bad—was immensely helpful in my ability to guide children in learning to control their behavior,” ...........

How do we grade at the elementary level? We use a standards-based report card instead of a report card with letter grades. Elementary report cards are issued at the end of each grading period. They are intended to give an evaluation of the scholastic achievement and work habits of each child. Parents should examine all cards carefully since each child is rated not only on academic progress, but also progress in development of social attitudes and work habits.
We use a 4,3,2,1 system to assess a student's mastery of standards.
4 = Exceeding State and District Standards
3 = Meeting State and District Standards
2 = Approaching State and District Standards
1 = Not Meeting State and District Standards
