FOX CUB HUB
October Newsletter
Fox Families
October has arrived already and classes are in full swing!!! I wish to take this opportunity to thank our Cubs, their parents, and our faculty and staff members for working together as a team, in true Cub style.
We have such an exceptional school, and we take great pride in helping each of our Cubs reach his/her highest potential. Having high expectations at Fox for each student is the norm, not the exception. You, as parents, are to be commended for working in partnership with Fox's teachers toward a shared goal.
MAP Family Reports
Did you know students take the MAP Growth assessment three times a year? This online test is used to measure what your student knows and how they are growing academically in Reading and Mathematics. Now that the beginning of year testing window is complete, the MAP Growth Family Report can be found in your student’s Skyward Portfolio.

Hispanic Heritage Parade & Student Program
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month!
From September 15th to October 15th, we come together to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month! This special time honors the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans, with roots in all Latin American countries. Let's take this month—and beyond—to appreciate the incredible accomplishments of Hispanic and Latino leaders, both past and present. Together, we celebrate the diversity that strengthens our community!
Calling All Candy!
- On the night of the Fall festival, students should come with a treat bag for their goodies. Students can also wear costumes (not scary) if they would like.
- There may even be a family costume contest so be on the look-out for more details!
- Teachers will host game booths in the courtyard, gym, and café.
- Trunk or treat vendors and food trucks will be in the parking lot outside the cafeteria.
Huge thanks to our teachers, PTO, and community partners for helping make this a fun time for our families.

Campus Safety Updates
Safety Drills
We conduct drills for fire evacuation (four), shelter in place (two), hold (once) secure (two) and lockdown (once) emergencies. Please be sure to talk to your child about the important of consistently following the teacher's directions the first time. We've conducted six drills so far this school year and our Cubs and staff have done an excellent job following expectations and response protocols.
Please know that we are very deliberate in teaching and preparing for our drills to ensure that students are at ease and confident about the process.
Please assist us by making sure that your contact information is always current. If your phone number or address changes, please contact the registrar to update your information. Remind will serve as one of our main communication tools during a actual emergency. If you have any questions regarding any of these drills or other safety concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly at 832-375-8905.
Parent Responsibility- Custody Issues
Please assist us in the handling of custody-related issues. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide the campus registrar a certified copy of the court order affecting any other person's right to their children. Should you have any questions, please call: Lakita Combs at 832-375-8905.

Classroom Spotlights
Mrs. Steagall and Mrs. Cedillo's First Grade Cubs
Our first-grade scientists had a blast learning about solids and liquids with a delicious twist—s'mores! As part of their hands-on science experiment, students explored how heat transforms a solid marshmallow into a gooey liquid when melted, and how the chocolate softens. They observed these changes while enjoying their tasty creations, making connections between what they learned in class and real-life examples. This fun activity helped bring the concept of solids and liquids to life in a way they'll always remember!
Parents, please stay at this event with your student.
