The Spring Road Scoop

Spring Break begins today at 11:30! Students will return to school on Tuesday, March 29th. I hope you and your family have a wonderful break!

A HUGE thank you to our PTO for all of the delicious meals that you brought our staff during Parent/Teacher Conferences. We greatly appreciated them and are so grateful for you!

We kicked off our Timber Rattler Reading Club incentive on Monday, March 14. Students who complete all their reading minutes will receive a FREE Timber Rattler game ticket, a Grand slam prize and a hot dog/soda voucher to our SPRING ROAD FAMILY NIGHT GAME on Friday, May 20 at 6:40 p.m.

A letter and details along with a Fang cut out sheet for parent signatures came home with your child on Friday, March 11th. Every grade level has a reading minute goal. Each time your child reads 25% of the total goal, you should sign one of the Fang pictures and return it to their teacher.

Your child will receive their prizes in May along with details of how to order your tickets. Additional tickets will be available for $9.00 each. If you are unable to attend the Spring Road Family night game, you may redeem your ticket for another game in 2022.

On the back of the letter that was sent home on March 11th is a baseball reading minute log sheet to help keep track of your child's reading minutes. The deadline for completing the minutes is Tuesday, April 26.

The reading goals for each grade level are:

• Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades need to read 60 minutes per Fang (Goal = 240 minutes total)
• 3rd & 4th grade need 100 minutes per Fang (Goal = 400 minutes total)
• 5th grade need 140 minutes per Fang (Goal = 560 minutes total)
  

If your child tests negative for Covid but still is exhibiting symptoms, please keep your child home until they are symptom free. Thanks so much for your help.

Every year students in grades 3, 4, and 5 take the Wisconsin State Forward Exam. Students in grades 3 and 5 will take a Math and an English/Language Arts Assessment. Students in grade 4 will take a Math, English/Language Arts, Science and Social Studies Assessment. Our Spring Road Students will begin taking these assessments the week of April 4th. Student results will be shared with families in September.

Our Spring Road PTO is hosting a family Bingo night on Friday, April 8th from 6:00-7:30 pm. Bingo will be held in our gym. We are still looking for some volunteers to make this night successful. If you are able to help, please click on this link. https://signup.com/go/WFpWiKt

If your family has recently moved or plans to move out of the Neenah Joint School District in the coming months, it will be necessary to apply for open enrollment between February 7, 2022 - April 29, 2022. Applications may be completed online at the Department of Public Instruction site at:

https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment/applications

Notices of approval or denial will be sent out in late May.

It's time to register our youngest for school! To enroll your 4K or Kindergarten child please visit our website at www.neenah.k12.wi.us and selecting the enrollment link.

We are needing additional playground supervisors as soon as possible. If you or someone you know is interested in helping on our playground, please email dluft@neenah.k12.wi.us. The hours are 11:20-1:00. The days of the week can be flexible... so if you would like to work all 5 days... GREAT! If you want to work 3 days.... We can make that happen! This position is an excellent way to spend time with children, play games and get some exercise in fresh air.

Spring Road School has partnered with our Downtown Campus to provide Spring Road apparel to purchase. This is a great Win-Win! Students at the Downtown Campus are learning valuable skills to run a business and we are able to show off our school spirit by supporting their business, Greater Hope Graphics. It is fantastic that we are able to welcome volunteers back in our buildings. We have missed you! As part of keeping our schools safe, all volunteers need to complete a background check. Please click HERE to fill out the background check form. Also, when entering the building, a government issued photo ID (such as a driver's license) is needed for our Raptor System. Thank you so much for your continued support of Spring Road.

If you have a four year college degree in ANY subject or a two year associate degree, please consider taking a one day class to be able to substitute teach. Please click on this LINK for more information on how to obtain a substitute teaching certification.
