Good Evening Borchardt Families,

Last week was a wonderful one here at Borchardt! We had a special visit from the therapy dogs through St. Lutheran's Church, and our students loved spending time with these sweet pups during their lunch and recess breaks. It brought so many smiles to campus and was a great way to recharge during a busy time.

We also want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has already donated to our Color Run fundraiser. Thanks to your generosity, we have raised over $1,500 so far! Fundraisers like this help us create a fun, welcoming environment for our students through special events and activities throughout the year. We are so grateful for your continued support!

Finally, this week our 5th graders will be wrapping up state testing by completing the CAST (California Science Test). We are incredibly proud of their hard work and resilience throughout the testing season—let’s finish strong!

The big day is almost here—our Borchardt Bear Color Run is happening this Friday, May 2nd!

Get ready for a fun, colorful event while helping raise money to support 6th-grade Science Camp and student activities!

✅ Students are encouraged to wear a white T-shirt to make the colors pop!
✅ Permission slips must be signed and turned in to participate.

We’re looking for volunteers to help make our Color Run on May 2 a fun and memorable event for our students! We need support with throwing color during the run, distributing treats afterward, and supervising students post-run.

If you're interested in volunteering, please contact the school office. All volunteers must be fingerprinted and signed up in advance.

Thanks to a last-minute sponsor, we are excited to offer Color Run T-shirts for sale! Shirts are available in youth sizes XS–2XL and adult sizes XS–2XL. Shirts are $15 each, with $5 from every shirt donated back to Borchardt to support student events and activities!

Students may choose between a plain white shirt or a tie-dye option—both are $15.

🗓 All orders must be submitted by Wednesday, April 30 to guarantee shirts will arrive in time for students to wear them at Friday’s Color Run!
📄 Order forms will go home tomorrow, or you can order online through our Google Form.
💵 Payment must be turned in to the office.

JIEP Parent Program – Free Classes for Parents
Lodi Unified families are invited to join a free, 4-week parent program designed to support English language development, social-emotional learning, and stronger connections between home and school.

Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00–7:30 PM in the Borchardt cafeteria.

This is a great opportunity to build relationships, strengthen your connection with the school community, and grow together as a family.

We’re continuing to focus on strong attendance at Borchardt! Each month, we celebrate the class in each grade level with the best attendance—and in May, we’ll be recognizing our April winners with a SUPER Recess during the first week of the month!

At the end of May, we’ll also be celebrating all students with perfect attendance for the entire year. These students will receive a special prize and get to participate in our beloved Borchardt tradition—the Running of the Bears!

Let’s keep the momentum going—being at school every day and on time makes a big difference!

• Students currently in 6th grade who will be entering in the 7th grade next school season.
• Students currently in TK or any child who will be entering into kindergarten this next school season.
• Any newly enrolled students who will be starting school this next school season.
• Any children who are conditionally enrolled and are due for vaccinations.

Families, it's time to order your yearbook! Secure a copy now to ensure your student receives it in time for signing on the last day of school. Orders placed after May 1st will be shipped home and won’t arrive in time for signing. There is no official due date, but ordering early is the safest way to guarantee your yearbook arrives on time!

Support our Borchardt Clothes Closet by grabbing a meal at Subway! Every Wednesday from now until the end of the school year, Subway (inside Walmart at 1601 S. Lower Sacramento Rd) will donate 20% of all sales to our school. Just bring in the flyer—hardcopy or digital—and enjoy a meal while giving back to our students! Thank you for your support! 🍽️💙

All Lodi USD students can enjoy a FREE nutritious breakfast and lunch every school day. That means no fees or meal applications required! Plus, the district-wide afterschool meals program is also no-cost.

UNIVERSAL FREE MEALS ensure that ALL CHILDREN get the nutrition they need to learn, grow, and succeed!

Parents: We're sending a gentle reminder that we are not able to accommodate checking out students within 10 minutes of the end of the school day. Please be patient with our teachers and office staff as the children are dismissed.
