Ready to meet new hearts and minds at CGIS?
6th Grade Reading Language Arts Teacher for First Semester 2024-2025
We are excited to welcome Rebecca Meyer-Worthen to serve as our newest Reading Language Arts teacher on the Sixth grade White House of Service. She has over twenty years of teaching experience in English and special education. She is excited to contribute to our students' personal growth and academic success. Mrs. Meyer-Worthen moved here with her family from California earlier this summer and her daughter, Anna, will be attending Maryville Junior High School this fall. She loves to incorporate music, movement, colors into all the reading and writing and can't wait to get to know everyone! She will be filling in for Mrs. Erin Myers during the first semester as she recently welcomed a new baby boy to the Myers family! Erin will be returning to work in January 2025. In the meantime, she will work collaboratively with Mrs. Meyer-Worthen and the other CGIS 6th grade Reading Language Arts teachers to ensure strong instruction all year (while she snuggles her new bundle of joy)!
Sixth grade Interim Math Teacher on the Silver House of Courage for Quarter 1
We are excited to introduce Kellie Ivens as our interim 6th grade math teacher for quarter 1 on the Silver House of Courage. Ms. Ivens is a retired math teacher and administrator who served in Knox County Schools for more than thirty years. She also completed an interim Algebra teaching position at MJHS last spring. She loves traveling and any outdoor activity, including hunting, four-wheeling and riding her motorcycle. Her life motto is "Be positive and treat others with respect. Energy and persistence conquer all things."
Welcome Chris Campbell as our new CGIS Art teacher!
We are excited to announce that Chris Campbell will be serving as our art teacher at CGIS. Our former art teacher, Ericka Ryba, has moved to North Carolina and we will miss her greatly. Chris is ready to join our team and support our students creatively, academically and by making strong connections! No doubt, the art room will be a fun place to learn and make art! Chris has experience sharing his love of art and also has experience teaching in the regular classroom. He has been serving most recently at Springbrook Vineyard Church working with youth. Chris is married to Hannah and they just had their first child together this summer! We are ready to create with Mr. Campbell!
Welcome to CGIS as our 4th/5th Grade School Counselor: Cara Cahak!
We are excited to welcome Cara Cahak as our school counselor this school year. Cara is focused on building relationships with staff and students as she begins her journey with CGIS. As you can see from her picture, she is a mom of five and is full of love for her family! She is planning to extend that love to her new job, our students and the community of Maryville!
We are also excited that Cara is taking on the head coaching job of our 6th/7th grade Lady Hawks Basketball Team! Cara has LOTS of great experience as an educator and as a coach. She has most recently served at Hardin Valley Middle School and we are SO excited to welcome her to CGIS and Maryville!
5th grade Reading Language Arts on the Gold House of Effort
We are excited to welcome Tiffany Cawley to Tennessee and specifically to CGIS. Tiffany is teaching reading language arts on the Gold House of Effort! Tiffany and her family relocated to Maryville this summer from Naples, Florida. Tiffany graduated from Kent State University in Ohio and has spent several years working for non-profit organizations and made the transition to teaching. She's been teaching for seven years, is certified to teach from kindergarten to twelfth grade and specifically, loves to support students in their love of literacy and the written word.
Tiffany most recently served as a 9th grade English teacher at Palmetto Ridge High School.
7th Grade Reading Language Arts Teacher
We are pumped to welcome Krystle Redley to CGIS! Krystle has been teaching third grade at John Sevier and is making the jump to middle school at CGIS. Krystle brings a huge heart of service to her craft and a strong desire to meet the needs of the students she serves. Our CGIS staff had the awesome privilege of getting to know Krystle's family as her boys made a great impact at CGIS as students. Levi and Ezra were a force of positivity at CGIS and now we are excited that their mom will get to serve our students! The picture with her family is a blast from the past but speaks volumes! Krystle is replacing Kate Hoppenrath who recently accepted a job as librarian at West High School.
7th Grade Social Studies Teacher
Tyler is now back in East Tennessee and is ready to serve the learners at CGIS!
Mr. Jason Mysinger is made a change to the Teal House of Empowerment this year!
Please join me in celebrating Mr. Jason Mysinger's decision to move to teach Science and Social Studies in fifth grade next year on the Teal House of Empowerment! He will be replacing our beloved Jessica Barham as we creates new opportunities and adventures with their family business.
Mr. Mysinger was hired as a 7th grade teacher at CGIS/MCS when Coulter Grove opened its doors in August of 2012. He came to CGIS from North Middle School in Loudon County and taught ELA for one school year before finding his rhythm teaching 7th grade Social Studies. If you know Mr. Mysinger, you know that he loves history and he is excited about teaching Tennessee and American History to our fifth graders. He is also excited about the new challenge of teaching science concepts.
Moreover, Mr. Mysinger rejoins his previous teammate, Meghan Cobble, and is excited to work with Brandon Harveston on Teal House and the entire 5th grade team.
