The Latest from L'Etoile
10/18/2024
Dear Franklin Academy Families,
Happy Friday! We are hope to see everyone tomorrow at our Fall Festival. There are still some Truck or Treat spots available if you’re interested—please check out the flyers below for more details.
I want to take a moment to congratulate our Girls Varsity Volleyball team for making it to the championship game yesterday! It was an incredibly close match that went to three sets, and I can honestly say it was one of the best games I’ve ever seen. These girls showcased hard work, dedication, and an inspiring never-give-up attitude throughout the season. Coming in 2nd place is an outstanding achievement, and we are so very proud of them! Let’s celebrate their efforts and accomplishments!
Here are a few important reminders for the week ahead:
- Staff SHOUT OUT: A huge thank you to everyone who has submitted a Staff SHOUT OUT! If you haven’t had the chance, please take a moment to complete the survey each week to help us recognize our amazing staff members. Click here.
- Health and Safety Concern: We’ve noticed some students bringing perfume to school and spraying it in certain classrooms. Despite previous discussions about the serious impact this can have on individuals with asthma—especially given that some of our staff and students have severe cases—this behavior has continued. Starting Monday, October 21st, we ask that all students come to school without any scented products, including perfume, cologne, or deodorant (stick deodorant is allowed). Please discuss this matter with your child to reinforce the importance of respecting our community and the health of others. Thank you for your understanding and support in creating a safe and positive environment for all.
- Book Fair: Don’t miss out on our Book Fair, full of Goosebumps! It ends on Wednesday, October 23rd. See flyers below for more information.
- Spirit Week: The Make Up Spirit Week flyer has been updated!
- Report Cards: Report cards are being issued today. Parents of Kindergartners, please check your child’s backpack. For Grades 1-8, you will receive them through PowerSchool and via email. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Have a wonderful weekend, and we hope to see you tomorrow for our Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat!
Thank you for your continued support!
All the Best,
Mrs. L'Etoile

Review our school’s Programme of Inquiry
If you have an interest in or expertise related to our units. We may be able to use you as a valuable resource during one of our units of inquiry. Contact the IB Coordinator Yamile Francese- francese.yamile@franklin-academy.org
Ask your child about the theme, central idea, and concepts into which they are inquiring… show interest in their units of inquiry.
Encourage your children to “discover” rather than telling them answers. This will foster lifelong self-efficacy that will benefit them both inside and outside of school.
Bring the IB Learner Profile home by incorporating the language of the ten attributes. Complete the "I See IB" forms.
Foster independence in your child by supporting them with school projects and in problem-solving interactions with others, versus doing the work for them. This will give them the confidence needed to thrive and grow.
