The Weekly Wave
Principal's Corner 3.13.2025
Hello, Laker Families!
At DLHS, every day brings new opportunities for learning, growth, and celebration! This week, we recognize our Intern of the Week, Blake Johnson, whose dedication to physical education at Rossman Elementary has made a lasting impact on students.
Additionally, our 9th graders participated in a valuable mock interview session during Seminar! Students worked hard creating resumes, writing cover letters, and completing job applications while learning essential skills to confidently present their best selves in future job opportunities. This is exactly why the academy model is so important—helping students gain real-world experience and career-ready skills!
We also extend a huge Miigwech to everyone who participated in the DLPS Powwow today. What a powerful celebration of Indigenous culture and community!
Meanwhile, the Electric Lakers Robotics team is competing at the Great Northern Regional Robotics Competition in Grand Forks! Good luck, Lakers!
Looking ahead, we’re excited to welcome Amberley Snyder for a special assembly on March 24. Her inspiring story of resilience and determination is one you won’t want to miss. Plus, spring is in full swing—course registration is due, Prom planning is underway, and spring sports are underway with the last few starting next week!
Be sure to check in with your student about AIT expectations, registration forms, and upcoming deadlines.
Let’s keep the momentum going—DLHS is truly A Place Where Amazing Things Happen Every Day!
Go Lakers! Have a nice long weekend!

AIT Reminder
📚 AIT Time – New Checkout Policy
We have updated our system to track students who are failing a course in real time, and these students will not be allowed to check out during AIT!
đź’ˇ What this means for students:
- If a student is failing a class, they must stay in the building during AIT.
- They should use this time to get help, complete missing work, meet with teachers and improve their grades.
- Only students who are not signed up and passing all their classes will be allowed to leave.
Encourage your student to take ownership of their learning and use AIT wisely!
Registration Sheets Are Due
📢 Course Registration Reminder! 📢
Attention, Laker families! All course registration sheets for students are due immediately as the deadlines are now past! If these forms are not turned in on Monday we will be selecting courses for your student. Please remind them to complete this important step to ensure they get the classes they want for next year!

Attendance Matters!
A new semester and a fresh start. Please monitor your student’s absences, but what does it all mean?
At DLHS, we know that regular school attendance is a key factor in student success. When students attend consistently, they stay engaged in learning, build strong relationships, and develop habits that will serve them well beyond high school.
We also understand that absences happen. If your student will be absent for any reason, please communicate with the school as soon as possible. Keeping us informed allows us to provide support, track attendance accurately, and work together to help your student stay on track.
✅ E / EP – Excused
❌ T, U, V, X – Unexcused (can lead to truancy concerns)
Please report absences via Skyward or call the office if your student will be out.
It is very important to communicate with the school about why your student is absent.
