'Who Was' on Netflix
Check out the Educator Resource Guide to see the episodes along with ideas for using them in class.
PBS collected 100 fiction titles from voters and is narrowing down the list to find the #1 most loved novel in America. It's an incredible list with loads of variety and they want you to vote for your favorite! Check out the site HERE.
If the class novel you teach or share with students is on the list, I highly encourage you to see if you can find a clip of the book on the show. Would be a great way to introduce the novel to students. HERE you can find the introductory episode and several great clips.
The winner is to be announced in October!
Want to read some of these great books? I've created a list of them in our library catalog. I'm proud to say that we have 76 of the 100 at AHS! Watch this super short video to see how to access the list!
AND....get ready for The Great Argyle Read coming soon!!!
Sidenote...Tony Vincent @tonyvincent is a great guy to follow on Twitter for other cool ideas.
What new thing will you do this year?
This website takes difficult wording that is commonly found in class literature (or other resources) and rewords it into a more approachable text. Wow! Check out the image below to see how they help reword Huck Finn & the Bill of Rights! The highlighted text has the reworded vocabulary. When you hover on top of the highlighted portions, it shows the original text.
Students can also click any word in the text selection and get a definition, like in the picture to the right.
Think of how this could assist our readers!
Need Tech Tips?
Steve Dotto brings you loads of videos all about different tech tools. I enjoyed his tutorials about Google Keep and other Google apps. Very knowledgable guy and fun to listen to.
These ladies are great! Their Youtube Channel is all about new technologies, but what I found most helpful this summer was all their tutorials on Google products. They have a complete playlist of videos that show you step-by-step how to use Google Sheets, Forms, Docs, and more. If you are studying for your Google Educator certification, check them out!
