HALLOWEEN AROUND TWAIN
- Parade: A short Halloween Parade will take place beginning at 10:00AM on Thursday, October 31st. Weather permitting, we will parade out the main doors and around the building. Our Y5s and kindergarten students will lead the parade around each classroom and then outside around the building. All are welcome to come and watch our costume parade outdoors!
- Classroom Activities: Classrooms/grade levels will be planning for Halloween activities and celebrations individually, either before or after the parade. If teachers request parent volunteers to help facilitate the classroom activities, all volunteers will have to submit a Background Check.
- Costumes: Students may come to school in costume on Thursday, October 31st. They can stay in costume for the duration of the day. Costumes need to be school appropriate and cannot depict violence or excess blood/gore. No fake weapons are allowed in school (i.e. toy guns, swords, blades, etc). Costume masks can be worn for the parade, but not throughout the day. For costumes that have short skirts/shorts, leggings or pants need to be worn underneath.
Red Ribbon Month - Wear RED Every Monday
We continue to celebrate Red Ribbon Month! This year's theme is “Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free.” Red Ribbon Month is a month during which people, schools, and communities unite and take a visible stand against drugs. During HEART class students have been focusing on healthy habits and choices. Students have pledged to live a drug-free life. Red Ribbon Awareness Bracelets will be worn by all staff and students throughout the month to show that we pledge to make good choices. Students in grades 4-6 were encouraged to participate in the poster contest.
Strategic Plan Survey and Community Meeting
We are excited to embark on the creation of our 2025-2030 Strategic Plan—a roadmap that will shape the next five years of excellence in Fraser Public Schools. This plan will continue to focus on our strong traditions of excellence by staying committed to our core values and beliefs - Innovate, Learn, Lead.
We will be holding a Community & Parent Meeting to kick off the strategic planning process on October 29th at 6 pm in the Fraser High School Media Center. All are welcome to attend!
Canvas Learning Management System
All students, grades Young 5s-12 use Canvas, a learning management system. Classroom teachers use Canvas to provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments for students, as well as parent communication.
Parents are encouraged to set up a parent/observer account to stay abreast of student learning. Canvas will allow parents to:
- Contact their child’s teacher
- View grades, due dates, and events
- See, and in many cases access, what the child is doing at school
- Support an absent student
- View classroom and building announcements
Downloadable directions are linked below. In addition, helpful videos and walk-throughs may be found linked HERE.
If you have any trouble at all, please reach out to Twain's Media Clerk, Jean Khoury at Jean.Khoury@fraserk12.org or Kim Keith at kimberly.keith@fraserk12.org..
Flags Indicate Indoor Line Up
During inclement weather, red flags will be hung near the main entry and outside the media center. These flags denote indoor line up. Our students can enter the building at 8:20 via the main entry or door #16. As a reminder, the bus loop is not a drop off zone, this area needs to stay open during arrival and dismissal times.
TURKEY IN DISGUISE CONTEST
Please find a turkey image linked below. Help this turkey make it safely past Thanksgiving by disguising it. Students may disguise their turkeys using any supplies they have at home.
Please have fun and be creative! This is an optional school-wide activity sponsored by our Student Council. All submissions should be turned in by November 8th.
Twain Parking Lot Reminders
The North lot is NOT a drop-off/ pick-up zone. It is for parking only. We MUST keep the loop open for busses and emergency vehicles. This rule applies to everyone, so please be cooperative and follow it.
The large, central lot has two lanes: a drop-off/ pick-up lane on the outside of the loop and a driving lane on the inside.
Please note: Drivers MAY NOT get out of your car while in the outside drop-off/ pick-up lane. Your students must exit to the outside of the loop, and drivers must not exit the car to walk students up or pick them up. If you have younger children who need to be walked up or picked up at the door, you MUST park your car in one of the lots or on the street.
Smoking and pets are not permitted on school grounds. Please leave your pets at home for the safety and comfort of all of our students and families.
Please do NOT swear on school grounds. We are trying to set a positive example for behavior for our Twain Comets, and shouting and swearing at other drivers does not set the right example for our kids. We ask our students to be respectful, organized, cooperative, kind, and safe, and we expect those behaviors to be modeled by our parents, too.
DOES YOU CHILD HAVE MEDICAL NEEDS?
If your child has specific medical needs, please reach out to the main office. In order to administer medication, consent forms must be completed. Consent forms for prescription medications must include dosage and frequency information signed by a physician. Medication, including inhalers, must be stored in the main office and not in backpacks or pockets.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS...
SCHOOL PICTURE RETAKE DAY
As you know, School Picture Day was Tuesday, September 17th. If your child was absent or needs their picture retaken, Lifetouch has been scheduled to return on Monday, November 4th.
KIWANIS FOOD DRIVE
The K-2 and 3-6 class that brings in the most items will receive a pizza party.
STUCO WREATH FUNDRAISER
Twain's Student Council is once again hosting a Wreath Fundraiser. This has always been a very successful fundraiser for our student council and the wreath products are beautiful. Order forms were sent home with students last week. Extras are available in the office should you need them. Orders are due by Wednesday, November 6th and our delivery/pick up date at Twain will be Thursday, Dec. 5th (1/2 day).
*Please make checks payable to Mark Twain Elementary.*
READY OR NOT- THE COLD WEATHER IS COMING!
We're starting to see MANY students bundled up each day, which is great! Please be sure to send your child to school dressed for the weather each day. Students will start needing warm coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and/or boots daily throughout the winter.
Please take time to label each and every item- because our lost and found gets bombarded with lost winter accessories throughout the season
Please note that, per Board Policy, we will be having outdoor morning lineup and heading outdoors for our 20 minute recess(es) if the windchill is 10+ degrees.
Time outdoors is time well spent for kids, in all seasons

Marvelous Monster Winner
Our parents really out did themselves this year with our Candy Monsters. Congratulations to Mrs. Delicato's class. They won an Ice Cream Party for Best Monster. This monster was created by the Bendert Family. The MTPC will be scheduling this event with Mrs. Delicato soon! They will also receive a trophy to proudly display in their classroom. We appreciate all of our creative parents who participated.
Candy Totals
Due to the generosity of our families, our monsters collected over 760 lbs. of candy for our Trunk or Treat. The prize for the top class goes to Mrs. Cracchiolo's 3rd-grade classroom who donated almost 150 lbs. of candy. They earned an ice cream party. The MTPC will be scheduling this event soon. We truly appreciate everyone for making our Harvest Fest & Trunk or Treat a successful event!!
