Periodically, you will receive a newsletter to your email from the middle school with important information regarding upcoming events. These newsletters can also be found on our website here: Freeland Middle School Newsletters

Our first count day is Wednesday, October 2. It is important that your student is in school on this day. If your student has an appointment, please get a doctor's note and turn it into the office or send to glazierr@freelandschools.net. Additionally, if your student misses for another reason, absences must be reported in writing and can be sent to glazierr@freelandschools.net. Thank you, in advance, for helping our count day run smoothly.

We are excited to share that beginning next week, our Student Success Academy will start. This program is available to all 7th and 8th graders who may need extra help in core subjects.

The academy offers tutoring, homework and class work support, assistance with project or essay writing, test studying, and any other academic support your child may need to succeed in middle school. Families can register using the QR code in the flyer, or students can check the teachers' schedules, also linked via a QR code, for drop-in support.

The Student Success Academy begins on October 7th and will run Monday through Thursday after school through January 17th. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our FCSD Tutoring Coordinator, Mrs. St. Charles, at stcharlesm@freelandschools.net.

Does your student need help in making informed education and career decisions? Help them by checking out Pathfinder, Michigan’s online career exploration tool that allows users to explore in-demand careers and the degrees or credentials needed to pursue them.

If you’ve used Pathfinder before – found at Pathfinder.MiTalent.org – come with your student and check out its recent enhancements; including new filter features when exploring jobs, fields and schools and the ability to choose multiple paths and compare them with each other. For brand new users, visit and have a tailored career exploration experience that will provide your student with a complete training path picture when a career goal is chosen.

• Count Day is Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
• Homecoming Festivities will be held this week (September 30-October 4). We will have our first SOAR drawing of the year on Friday at the Pep Assembly.

• 7th and 8th Grade Band Concert | Thursday, October 24 | 7:00 pm in the FHS Performing Arts Center.

• Halloween Dance | Wednesday, October 30 | After School until 4:30 pm.

• SAVE THE DATE - The first round of FMS Parent/Teacher Conferences will be on Thursday, November 14 from 4:30-7:00 pm

We are excited to host our first Trivia Night at FMS! Come on out and have some fun while supporting our students! Players in 6th grade and above are welcome. Here is the form to sign up:

• Please use our website to find the Daily Announcements, Absent Work, and many other items throughout the school year. We will continue to improve the content that is found on the website each month.

• Please follow Freeland Community School District on Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) for information and fun posts about our students and staff throughout the year. If you are not a social media fan, the same information will be found on our website in the live feed.

• Use Skyward for keeping track of your student’s grades, attendance, etc.

It is the goal to return all phone calls and emails within 24 hours during the school week. Emails and phone calls received over the weekend will receive a response as soon as possible on Monday.
