Volume 3 ~ Issue 32 ~ Week of April 20, 2025
💛 Message from the Principal 💛
Well, last week was eventful, wasn't it!?!? 😉 I want to say thank you to all students, parents, and staff for their patience and understanding as we navigated an earthquake and a gas pipe break! The bright side is that we had real life examples for our earthquake drill and evacuation drill, both of which the students and staff handled well! We were also able to see some minor tweaks that we need to make to our normal protocols to account for different variables. This was a good reminder that no matter how often we practice drills, when it happens in real life, are you ready to do what you're supposed to do?
Progress reports will be sent home this Friday! This is an important checkpoint as we enter the final stretch of the school year—only 29 school days remain between now and final exams. Now is the time to reflect, refocus, and finish strong. If your progress report doesn’t look the way you hoped, don’t panic—but do take action! Start by meeting with your teachers, asking questions, turning in any missing assignments, and taking advantage of tutoring or support opportunities that we offer every week. Small changes now can make a big difference before final grades are posted. For those students whose progress reports show strong grades—congrats! Keep up the great work by continuing to stay organized, focused, and engaged. Help others when you can, and don’t lose momentum as the year winds down.
Reminder: All students must pass their 7th and 8th grade classes with a D- or higher to stay on track for promotion.
-
7th graders who fail a class will need to retake it in summer school or Credit Recovery during 8th grade. Please note: Due to construction, there will be no summer school at MVA. 7th graders needing summer school will have to attend Southwest Middle or Montgomery Middle.
-
8th graders who fail any class will not have the opportunity to recover those credits before the promotion ceremony and therefore, will not be able to participate.
Let’s make these final 34 days of the 24-25 school year count! Finish strong, stay focused, and know we are here to support you every step of the way. You got this, Vikings! 😊
Let's make it a great week, Vikings!! 💛
Take care,
Ms. Scott
