Are you passionate about working with youth and making a positive impact in your community? We’re looking for an enthusiastic 4-H Intern to help facilitate our Babysitting Clinics running from June to July. These clinics teach 4-H youth essential skills in child development, nutrition, safety, and the business of babysitting. This is a paid internship offering valuable experience in education and youth development. Intern will assist with:
- Organizing and delivering interactive Babysitting Clinics
- Teaching and engaging youth in topics like childcare, healthy meal prep, and first aid
- Supporting hands-on activities for a fun and educational experience for all participants.
This is a paid internship preferably for college students majoring in Education, Child Development, or pursuing an FCS teaching certification.

Statewide Opportunities
4-H Spring Rabbit Show
The 4-H Spring Rabbit Show will be held on Saturday, March 15, 9 a.m. at the Sandhills Global Event Center in the Ag Society Hall. Open to all youth ages 8–18, with a Clover Kids class for youth ages 5–7. This is a great opportunity for youth to talk to other 4-H’ers about where to purchase a good rabbit for a 4-H project, and to learn and practice showmanship. 4-H Project Judge Training - April 2025
Join a training series for 4-H project judges!
Thursday, April 10 | 5:30 - 6:30 PM CST
Intro to Judging 4-H Projects: For adults interested in judging at county and state fairs. Topics include interview judging, Positive Youth Development, and more.
Monday, April 14 | 5:30 - 7:00 PM CST
4-H Visual Arts & Foods Judges Training: For new and experienced judges in Visual Arts & Foods. Topics include class changes, food judging updates, and sourdough trends.
Participation is optional but encouraged. Live attendance is preferred, but recordings will be available at: 4h.unl.edu/resources/judges
Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Update and Certification Sessions
Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports will offer multiple instructor sessions in April:
- April 12-13 - Instructor Certification & Update Sessions in Bassett, NE
- April 26-27 - Instructor Certification & Update Sessions in Hastings, NE
These sessions are designed for current 4-H Shooting Sports instructors to refresh their certification, stay updated on policies, and enhance their skills. Instructors certified in 2018 or 2019 must attend an update to maintain their certification. The update sessions are for previously certified instructors and not for new instructor training. Participants must be currently enrolled Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports volunteers. Disciplines offered include archery, rifle, pistol, coordinator, and shotgun. Sessions begin at 9 AM, with registration at 8:30 AM. Lunch is provided at noon. A minimum number of participants is required for each discipline.
Registration & Fees:
- Early Bird (by April 2) – $40
- Late (after April 2) – $60
- Fee includes program materials and lunch (lodging not included).

Make a Difference this Summer!
The Nebraska State 4-H Camp is hiring staff and program assistants for the 2025 season! Travel to Chadron and Burwell, bringing the fun of 4-H Camp to communities across the state.
Enjoy a week of training to develop leadership skills, teach environmental education, lead games, and create a positive camp experience. Plus, have fun tubing the river, playing group games, and gathering around the campfire! Learn more and apply here.
Livestock Nominations Open for 2025 Nebraska State Fair
Show Stock Manager is now open for livestock nominations for the 2025 Nebraska State Fair! All 4-H and FFA breeding livestock, market livestock, and feeder calves contending to exhibit at the Nebraska State Fair must be nominated online with a $7.00 fee per animal and submit a DNA envelope with a hair sample.

Special Note for 4-H/FFA Families: If nominating the same animals for both the Nebraska State Fair and Aksarben Stock Show, obtain DNA envelopes from your local Extension Office or FFA Advisor, submit them there, and complete payment and nomination in Show Stock Manager. Aksarben will have a separate nomination system, with details provided later.

Big Red Camps Registration is Open!
Big Red Camps are overnight career exploration camps for students entering grades 9-12. Campers get to experience life on the University of Nebraska campus, meet new friends from across the country, and dive into exciting topics like animation, fashion entrepreneurship, and engineering. With hands-on learning led by university faculty, participants explore potential careers while having a blast!
At the end of camp, families are invited to a special capstone event where students showcase their work. All housing and meals are included. Spots are limited and fill quickly, so sign up soon!

4-H Project Idea Corner
4-H: Clover Kids Fair Exhibit Rules
Did you know?
Clover Kids 4-H is for kids ages 5 to 7 as of January 1, 2025.
- Each child can enter up to 40 projects.
- Talking to a judge about their project is encouraged but optional.
- Clover Kids can do any project suitable for their age and can use ideas from older kids’ projects but should adjust them to fit their age.
- They will receive special ribbons but won’t get prize money.
- Projects will be displayed in the Clover Kids area at the county fair, but they cannot be entered in the State Fair.
Project options include areas like clothing, food, woodworking, science, animals, and more. Clover Kids can also join contests like the Communication Contest, Table Toppers, Fashion Show, and Rocket Launch. For animal showmanship, Clover Kids can show dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, poultry, and livestock (like beef, sheep, goats, and swine), but not horses. Animal size and age should match the child’s ability, and entry forms must be turned in on time — check the fair book for deadlines. All animal exhibitors will receive participation ribbons but no prize money.

2025 Scholarships
Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Council Scholarships
The Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Council is offering scholarships for current 4-H members, graduating seniors, and alumni.
Camp Scholarships
Available for current 4-H members:
- 3 scholarships of $300
- 5 scholarships of $200
- 11 scholarships of $100
Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in 4-H before the application deadline.
- Can be used for any 4-H, Big Red, or University of Nebraska-Lincoln program, or a 4-H Project Camp.
Apply for a Camp Scholarship – Deadline: March 21, 2025
Graduating Senior College Scholarships
For high school seniors graduating in 2025:
- 1 scholarship of $1,000 for UNL, UNO, or UNK
- 2 scholarships of $1,000 for any college, university, or trade school
- 1 scholarship of $900 for any college, university, or trade school
Requirements:
- Must be a high school senior graduating in 2025.
- Must have been active in Douglas-Sarpy 4-H for at least 3 years.
- Must be currently enrolled in Douglas-Sarpy 4-H before the deadline.
Apply for a Senior Scholarship – Deadline: March 21, 2025
Alumni College Scholarships
For 4-H alumni in college:
- 4 scholarships of $500
Requirements:
- Must be a Douglas-Sarpy 4-H alumni.
- Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Must be at least a college freshman (not a current high school senior).
