Rays Update
August 23, 2024
Message from the Principal
Rays,
What a great first full week of school. We have had a great week of learning. As a campus we have implemented daily reflection logs for students. We are asking that students reflect on their daily learning in every classroom beginning on September 3, 2024. We are encouraging parents to ask their students about their reflection logs and what goals they may set for themselves based on their learning. We are excited to help our students focus on their strengths throughout the school year with this new process.
While we have asked the campus to begin daily reflection logs on September 3rd, many classrooms have already started this process. In Mrs. Howard's class students are participating in D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Reflect) at the end of each day. Each day will be a different focus for our second-grade learners. Below are pictures of our Howard Hopper's reflecting on their learning.
We hope you all have a great weekend,
Alison Pennington
Principal

Attendance Matters!
We would like to remind all parents/guardians that being late to school has a big impact on the students’ ability to learn and thrive at school. Chronic tardiness is when students are consistently late to class. For our early education students (in Pre-K, ELE, and Kinder), being tardy can induce stress and difficulty in adjusting to morning routines. Young learners often cry or are upset when arriving late to school and they often need an adult chaperone to walk them back to their classroom.
We are asking parents of students who are chronically tardy to reconsider their morning routine so that their students can arrive at school on time. Students who arrive before 7:30 am can walk directly to their grade level door, which gives them easy access to their classroom and a more relaxed way to start their morning.

Grandparents Lunch Sign Up
Reagan is excited to welcome all Grandparents to Grandparents Day Lunch!
Grandparents are invited to come and share lunch with their Rays on Monday September 9th, 2024
RSVPs help us organize for large campus events during the school day and help check in lots of people quickly and safely. Leander ISD Safety Guidelines require Raptor Safe Check in for all visitors.
Please RSVP for each grandparent attending. All visitors must bring their license to check in. If their license is already scanned into the system, then we will pre-print their visitor badge and they can move through the Fast Pass Lane. Grandparents are welcome to come to the front office during business hours, starting August 26, 2024 to scan in their licenses to help expedite the check-in process the day of Grandparents Lunch.
If you do not have your license pre-scanned into the system you will have to wait in the line to have your license scanned into the system. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET YOUR LICENSE!
PLEASE complete 1 RSVP Per Person Visiting
Please note: Recess is closed to visitors. Once you check in, you can leave and return with the same visitor badge for this school day only if attending another lunch period.
Traffic Safety
Thank you for doing your part in ensuring the safety of all of our students during drop-off and pick-up. Your cooperation is appreciated with driving slowly in the designated direction and using the crosswalk to cross. Please remember to remain in your cars during drop-off and pick-up to speed up the process and maintain student safety. We urge you to please move your child’s seat to the passenger side of the car and practice exiting the car by themselves.
We must emphasize that these procedures must be followed:
- Only drop off at the Church or on campus. You may not use the driveway to the Agriculture barn
- The only vehicle entrance to the school is via Gupton Way. The driveway out of Park Street is an exit only during drop off and pick up
- During afternoon pick-up, the driveway is a single lane until you pass the entrance to the bus lane
- Please DO NOT BLOCK any crosswalk or the bus lane
- NEVER drive on the wrong side of the driveway
- After you pass the bus lane, our driveway turns into 2 lanes. The lane on the left is for ZONE C (2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade), and the lane to the right is for ZONE A (Pre-K (and ELE), Kinder, and 1st grade)
- If you're picking up students in both zones, please pick up the student in ZONE A first, then drive down the lane to pick up the student in ZONE C
To ensure student safety, NEVER drop off students on the side of the road. The AG barn is not a drop-off zone
- The bus lane is not accessible to parents at any time
- Double parking and/or leaving your car unattended in the drop-off lane is not allowed. If you must exit your car, please park your car in a parking spot
- Please pull up as far as you can in the car line to speed up the drop-off/pick-up process
- All bike riders, adults and children, must walk bikes and scooters on campus for safety and proper modeling for our students
- Motorized vehicles such as golf carts, mopeds, and electric bikes need to go through the parent drop off/pick up line, or park and walk to school
To help alleviate traffic, and to ensure you secure a parking spot, we encourage parents to park at Gupton Stadium, or at the church, then walk to Reagan for any campus events, or during the first day of school drop-off.
To maintain the safety of all students on our campus, no cars are allowed to park on the grass in the highlighted yellow areas marked on the map below. Cars parking in the highlighted areas will be asked to move immediately. Please review the map below:

APEX Is Coming!
Reagan Math Pentathlon Club
The legendary Reagan Math Pentathlon Club is getting ready for our 2024-2025 season! BUT, first we need a few fantastic assistant coaches and parent helpers before we can carry on with a successful Math P year. Starting October, we will meet between 2:40pm-4pm every Tuesday on school days. An assistant coach will learn the 5 games and support the coaches. Each club meet needs 4-6 parent helpers to support the students and help keep them on task (No need to attend all the meets, but committing to 5 or 6 meets throughout the year would be great). This is an awesome way to get involved in the community and it's truly satisfying to help these amazing kiddos grow throughout the season.
