Principal's Message
Hello Families,
I hope this message finds you well. Before getting into the usual details about upcoming events and requests, I want to offer reassurance to all our families. Recently, several families have expressed concerns regarding the safety of their children at school, whether related to immigration status, LGBTQ+ identities, or our of worry knowing the diversity of our school community. Please know that safety is our top priority at all times. We are steadfast in our commitment to fostering a sense of belonging that embraces the diversity of our students and families, ensuring every student feels secure and valued at school. Thank you for your ongoing partnership as we continue to educate and support your children. Continue to reach out with your worries, questions and ideas. We are a team.
Our second semester is off to an excellent start! Next week promises to be filled with excitement: we have Spirit Week lined up, and on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, our PTO and staff will host Books, Buddies, and Bracelets. Additionally, the Scholastic Book Fair will be open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, offering a wonderful selection right here at Cascadia.
Our 4th and 5th graders in Latinos in Action are also making a difference by fundraising to expand our library with books in various languages such as Spanish, Punjabi, Russian, Ukrainian, and more.
You may have already heard about another upcoming change: starting Monday, we will be reintroducing lunch cards for our students. Although meals remain free, using these cards will help us efficiently track breakfast and lunch selections. Please reassure your child that using their card correctly, keeping it in the cafeteria, is important and appreciated.
Thank you for your ongoing support. It is a privilege to share in the teaching of your child.
Your Proud Principal,
Dawn

Parent Pick-Up Dismissal Safety Reminder
This year, we’ve refined our parent pick-up process at dismissal to improve safety and efficiency for everyone, and overall, it’s been going smoothly. However, there are two areas where we need your help to keep things running smoothly:
Pacific Highlands Drive – Please be aware that parking is not allowed along the curb nearest the school. We’ve added additional signs to help clarify this, and we appreciate your cooperation in remaining in your vehicle if you are picking up your child.
Crossing the Street – If you park on the north side of Pacific Highlands Drive, please use the crosswalk where our staff member is stationed. This helps ensure drivers can see pedestrians clearly and minimizes the number of crossing locations.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep our students, staff, and families safe. We welcome any suggestions you may have for further improving our arrival and dismissal processes.
