Assalamu alaikum respected parents,
Wishing you all a happy and blessed new year filled with peace, good health and righteous deeds that bring us closer to Allah SWT. I pray you enjoyed a relaxing and pleasant Winter Break, and continue to spend quality time with your loved ones for these last few days. Before Winter break, we were were able to test 90 students across all grade levels for our Annual Qirat Competition on 12/15 Alhumdulillah. Special thanks to our judges, Br Muhammad Adisa, Sr Noor Shayeb, Sr Saima Abbasi, Sr Zeinab Moustafa, Sr Ayesha Khaleel, and Sr Marwa who listened to recitations from all our enthusiastic participants ma shaa Allah. I have now included the "long awaited" results below in this Newsletter. Although we rank the top three participants for each grade, but we are proud of all the students who participated in the competition ma Sha Allah and we congratulate them all for their efforts and participation. Awards for the top 3 positions in each grade will be distributed at our graduation/awards ceremony at the end of the year in shaa Allah. Our Quran team will re-evaluate students from the top three positions to select ONE student from each grade who will have the opportunity to compete in the Annual M.E.C Qiraat Competition that will be held IN PERSON this year at MEC in Morton Grove, on April 12th in shaa Allah.
JazakAllah Khair to all those parents and teachers who donated generously for our IFNSS Annual Fall Food Drive and helped your children practice the sunnah of giving. Allhumdulillah we were able to collect 2 full cartons of non perishable food items that will be donated to local charities in shaa Allah.
MORNING ASSEMBLY: Our morning Assembly on 12/15 was led by Sr Mazozeh, our 2nd grade Quran and Arabic teacher. She talked to students about how we will be asked what we did with our time and health, and how important it is to use our time wisely. She inspired students to set goals for the upcoming year to gain the pleasure of Allah (swt). Please see the attached FLYER for more information. For any parents who would like to come and lead a morning assembly at Sunday School, or get involved in other volunteer opportunities at Sunday School, please fill out THIS FORM and we will reach out to you with next steps.
Opportunities for Parent Involvement
Parent involvement is essential for students development, leads to increased student achievement and success and offers many benefits. We highly encourage our parents to get involved at IFN Sunday School which is why we are offering several opportunities for parent involvement this year. These include the following:
1. Join Parent Support Group (PSG) by completing this form
2. Become a Teaching Assistant
3. Become a Lunch/Recess Supervisor
4. Lead a Morning Assembly at Sunday School
5. Be a Substitute Teacher or TA
