Chapel
He started by sharing a story about someone who put water in a perfume bottle and gave the fake perfume as a gift. It looked like perfume, but it had no smell. The perfume was useless. Our encouragement is to live for Jesus in our words and actions. We are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
Next week, we will have Brad Novak speak at our chapel time. Brad has been a student and teacher of God's Word for many years. All are welcome to attend our chapel time. Chapel begins at 10:30 AM on Tuesdays. Our part-time homeschool students join us during this time.

Bible Class
Studies from last year made two things clear. First, Jesus and the Apostles regarded the Old Testament as truth, as history, and as vital to their understanding of the gospel. Second, Jesus is present in the Old Testament, in the Gospels, and in Revelation as well. Jesus always has been, he is, and he always will be.
The sacrificial lamb points to Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God—the sacrifice for our sins once and for all. Second, the priestly system leads us to understand Christ as our high priest and the
tabernacle helps us to understand the Church. Third, Israel’s wanderings during the exodus aid us in understanding the Christian life of following Christ.
--From our Bible Roadtrip Curriculum
Students are memorizing the following verses for the first week:
K-3 Students - John 1:29
4-5 Students - John 1:29, Romans 15:4
6-8 Students - John 1:29, 1 Corinthians 10:11, Romans 15:4, Romans 5:3-5
John 1:29, "The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!'"
Reading this week included the following:
John 1 (All Grades)
Hebrews 8 (Grades 4-8)
1 Corinthians 10:1-22 (Grades 6-8)
Questions to ponder:
- What do you know about “the Word,” who is the light of men, from John 1:1-5?
- Given what you’ve learned about the identity of “the Word,” go back and re-read the first part of the chapter. (John 1:1-18) Use Jesus’ name in place of “the Word” and “the light.” What do verses 1-3 say about Jesus?
- Who is the true high priest, and where is he seated now? (Hebrews 8:1)
- Describe how the priesthood and the tabernacle are shadows or types. Who do they point to? Who planned these shadows in advance?
Important Reminders
For Gym/Recess
All students must have separate, clean, non-marking gym shoes for PhyEd. The gym is occasionally utilized for recess time when the weather is not good - i.e. rain. We do not want students running around the gym with shoes that might have little rocks in the soles or could damage the flooring. Therefore, we encourage homeschool students to keep an extra pair of clean, non-marking shoes in their cubbies as well. If the shoes a student is wearing are not acceptable for the gym floor, we will have the students play in their socks. For PhyEd classes, this could affect their grade.
