Warrior Weekly News
A Weekly Newsletter for Warrior Families and Students
October 18 2024
Greetings Warrior Families and Friends,
Humans are hard-wired to find fault. We have the ability to find something to criticize very easily and this is often a useful trait as it leads to the ability to be analytical and solve problems. It can, however, at times impact our perspective and make it seem that everything is bad. It can lead us to see only problems, even when there is a lot of good to see as well. At the Principal's Cabinet (leader representatives from each club) this week, we took time to think about the good things around us. We thought about the things we have to be grateful for. Our students took a minute to write a card of gratitude to another student. The students also took a minute to reflect on teachers who have made an impact. It was powerful to listen to our students and the things that they noticed. We all should take some time this weekend to find the positive and to share our gratitude with someone. The impact of doing this would be powerful and create ripples.
This past week we had some great events at MHS, ranging from the end-of-season freshman and JV football games to Senior-Parent Night for women's volleyball (a huge 5-set victory!!) with an amazing Fall Choir Concert as well. Being at each of these events leaves me feeling gratitude to our amazing students, our engaged families, and the advisors who lead great programs.
Have an amazing weekend!
Go, Warriors!

Academic and Career Planning using Xello
Our goal in Muskego-Norway Schools is to develop academically prepared, highly engaged students with the capacity to be college, career, and community ready. Academic and Career Planning will produce responsible graduates who have the knowledge, skills, motivation, and a self-directed plan for career and lifelong success. Xello is an online program your student uses in school to help them prepare for the future. It offers a variety of activities to help students build self-knowledge, explore their options, and create achievable plans and goals.
We would like to invite you to create a parent/guardian account on Xello Family. If you haven't been invited in the past or if you haven't yet created a Xello Family account, you should have received an email today inviting you to create an account. We encourage families to review your student’s Xello account together throughout the year to begin meaningful conversations related to academic, career, and personal goals. Attached is a video introducing you to Xello Family.
Post Secondary Night at MHS
On Wednesday, November 13th, MHS will be hosting a Planning for Post-Secondary Options event. This event and information is for current juniors, seniors and their guardians. The event will begin promptly at 6:00pm in MHS’s Performing Arts Center. This is an excellent opportunity to gain insight and knowledge of different post-secondary options from four-year public and private universities, technical colleges, and military options. Guest speakers will have tables set up in the PAC lobby before and after the event to speak individually with families.
AP Exams
Standard AP Exam Registration is open as of September 2nd until November 1st, after this date there is a $10 late fee. AP (Advanced Placement) exams are optional exams that students can take for potential college credit if they receive a qualifying score. Please find more information about the registration process HERE.
Financial Aid Night
MHS is excited to host our annual Financial Aid Information Night presentation. We are pleased to welcome a Carroll University representative who will speak about the FAFSA in great detail and why it can benefit everyone to complete the FAFSA application! This opportunity will take place on November 20th at 6pm in the MHS Performing Arts Center. Please reach out to School Counselor, Mrs. Christine Knapp (christine.knapp@muskegonorway.org) with any questions!
