St Joseph's Catholic Primary School
Newsletter 21.6.24
This week...
We have been working away behind the scenes to start getting things organised for next year and are delighted to be in a position to announce our upcoming class structure. You should have received a letter via email this morning to inform you about our exciting plans. If you don't think you've received this, please contact our office who can resend this or print out a paper copy for you.
We are looking forward to our school Sports Day this afternoon! We couldn't have been more blessed with this lovely sunshine either. Please see below for a snapshot of some of the things going on in school this week, and don't forget to head to our Twitter/Facebook accounts for further videos/photos!
Have a lovely weekend.
Thank you, as always, for supporting us to
Live, love and learn with the Lord.
Mrs Ronicle
Franciscan Sisters
This week, we were delighted to host two nuns from the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal! They led a whole school worship with us, and then visited each class to share their experiences of being nuns and why they chose to dedicate their lives to following Jesus in the way that St Francis of Assisi did. They children were mesmerised by their songs and stories!
Beanbag Rounders
Year 6 Confirmation
Thank you to Father Sean for leading a beautiful Mass and to St Edward's Catholic Primary School for providing wonderful readings, songs and prayers.
St John Fisher's Taster Day
This week our Year 5s enjoyed a taster day at one of our feeder secondary schools, St John Fisher's Catholic High School in Harrogate. They loved it! See below for more information!
Dr Scott
A huge thank you to one of our super parents, Dr Scott, who came in to St Therese this week to extend the children's learning about the human heart!
Footwear
We are reminding you that our uniform policy states that children have black footwear for school. We are noticing some children arriving in other coloured shoes. If you are having trouble purchasing shoes for your children, please do contact either me or the office and we are always happy to help fund these.
Attendance Update
Whole School Attendance this week: 93.3%
Our attendance this week is below National Average, but an improvement on last week!
Thank you for your help in supporting our children to be in school,
where we are able to help them to achieve their best!
We have been learning...
St Nicholas (Nursery)
This week our focus story is Farmer Duck. The children have been playing a game of matching the mummy farm animals to the baby farm animals.
St Francis (Preschool/Reception)
St Francis have been exploring the features of a Church. We learnt the names of the features including tabernacle and lectern. We then made junk models of Churches, built our own church and used it to role play and made stained glass windows.
St Bernadette (Y1/Y2)
In RE this week, we have thought about how and why we can be kind to others. We were given scenarios and had to act out a positive and a negative version. We saw how kindness made such a huge difference!
St Patrick (Y3/Y4)
In St. Patrick's Class, as part of our Being a Christian unit in RE, we discussed things that we already do in school to help others. We thought of other ideas we could carry out too, such as:
Giving to food banks, raising money for charity, litter picking, giving flowers to people and helping the elderly and those in need with their shopping. We made a collage to represent our ideas of Loving God and Others.
St Therese (Y5/Y6)
On Tuesday, the Year 5s enjoyed a day at St John Fisher's high school, including PE, art and drama, whilst the Year 6s had a great day with Miss Allan and Mrs Ranby. They enjoyed editing their Robinwood recounts and practising for our end of year production!
