ROCKLAND HIGH WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
March 14, 2025
UPDATES
Dog Block on Thursday sent students and staff walking the rail trail, testing their Disney trivia, making friendship bracelets, creating self care jars, learning about the history of Rockland, working on creative writing, solving puzzles, and more. Sophomores all participated in a practice MCAS test, as there is a new online testing platform this year that we needed them to become familiar with. Seniors participated in a scholarship assembly.
Also on Thursday, a seniors versus juniors volleyball game took place. The red senior team took home some tiny trophies and bragging rights. Thanks to Ms. Levesque for coordinating and teachers for chaperoning the event!
On Friday, 12 students traveled to Sharon High School to participate in Senior SEMSBA Chorus.
MCAS
Reminder that MCAS testing is coming in a couple of weeks. All grade 10 students will take English Language Arts in March and Math in May. Grade 9 students will take Science at the beginning of June. Testing dates are:
- March 25 and 26 - Grade 10 ELA
- May 20 and 21 - Grade 10 Math
- June 4 and 6 - Grade 9 STE
Testing will take place during the school day. Students NOT taking the MCAS on these days will be expected to report school later than usual (although students taking the bus may come in at normal time and work on schoolwork in the cafeteria). The schedule for ELA on 3/25 and 3/26 is attached. The schedule for the May and June testing will be shared closer to those dates.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
During the Dog Block this week, seniors attended an assembly on local scholarships. The presentation, also in Seniors Guidance Google classroom, can be found here. Everything students need for local scholarships can be found in the presentation, so please read through it carefully!
There are two scholarship lists, each with their own application. Instructions are listed at the top of each list - read them carefully! 5 additional scholarships require their own application - this is all detailed in the presentation.
For scholarships on the General Scholarship list, students only need to complete and submit one application to be considered for every scholarship.
For scholarships on the Outside Scholarship list, students must submit an application for EACH scholarship they are applying for. Some require additional materials; read the instructions for the scholarship carefully as incomplete applications will not be considered.
Students CANNOT submit applications electronically. Completed applications must be printed and brought to Guidance. Students can print applications in the Library on help days - details on help days are in the presentation.
THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT COMPLETED SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS TO GUIDANCE IS 3:00 PM on THURSDAY, April 3rd. There are NO exceptions to this deadline.
Use your time over the next few weeks to apply for every scholarship you are eligible for - every dollar counts!
If you have questions about scholarships, please refer them to Mrs. Carla Dunn in Guidance (cdunn@rocklandschools.org) or (781) 871-8410.
