December Highlights and Important Updates
Happy New Year! As we welcome the start of 2025, I hope this message finds you and your family rested and ready for a fantastic year ahead. December was a vibrant and festive month in our school, filled with wonderful events that showcased the talent, generosity, and community spirit of our students and staff.
We enjoyed memorable holiday concerts, where our students dazzled us with their musical abilities and brought the joy of the season to life. The creativity of our students and staff shone brightly during the door-decorating contest, adding festive cheer throughout our halls. Our student council once again demonstrated their leadership and commitment to helping others by organizing a successful canned food collection to support those in need. Finally, the Franklin Fun Fest was a fantastic way to bring our school community together, providing laughter, connection, and holiday spirit for everyone involved.
January promises to be an exciting month! Our school musical will take the stage, showcasing the dedication and talent of our student performers. Sixth-grade students will begin the important process of choosing a world language, and our seventh graders will start selecting classes for high school—key steps in their academic journey.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we create a vibrant and thriving school community. Here’s to a safe, successful, and fulfilling 2025!
School Safety
As we move forward into 2025, I want to take a moment to reassure you about our ongoing commitment to school safety. Your children’s safety remains our top priority, and we continue to take significant steps to ensure a secure learning environment. While OpenGate technology is an important part of our safety measures, it is only one piece of a much larger effort. Together, as a community, we can make our schools even safer through:
The presence of School Safety Officers at FMS.
Newly renovated single points of entry featuring shatter-resistant glass.
Strong partnerships with the Kenmore and Town of Tonawanda police departments.
Rigorous visitor screening protocols.
Our longstanding partnership with Altaris Consulting, a national leader in security and safety planning.
The implementation of the “Say Something” anonymous reporting system through the Sandy Hook Promise.
We remain committed to continuously improving these measures and fostering a safe environment where our students can thrive.

Morning Drop-Off Safety Reminder:
As we enter the winter months and deal with challenging weather, I want to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of following our morning drop-off procedures to ensure safety and efficiency for all.
When dropping off your child, please remember that our drop-off zone is a "drop-and-go" area. To help maintain a smooth traffic flow:
- Once your child exits the vehicle, please pull forward past the stop sign if you need to check your phone or take care of anything else.
- Avoid remaining parked in the drop-off lane, as it can cause traffic backups and unsafe conditions with cars needing to maneuver around stopped vehicles.
Your cooperation helps keep everyone safe and ensures that drop-off is a quick and stress-free experience for all families.
Thank you for helping us prioritize safety and make mornings easier for everyone. We appreciate your understanding and partnership!
