October was first declared as National Bullying Prevention Month in 2006.
Since then, October has been a time to acknowledge that bullying has devastating effects on children and families such as school avoidance, loss of self-esteem, increased anxiety, and depression. At Boucher we work hard to teach our students the seriousness of bullying and the meaning of the word.
Conflict Resolution
We also teach conflict resolution skills to help students learn to navigate and solve more minor issues with their peers.
Raising Awareness
AR (Accelerated Reader)/Library
9W1: end October 8, 2024
Checking out books has started for 2nd-5th grade!!! Everyone is excited to get students reading and passing quizzes. We have modified the 9W1 goal:
- Any student who earns 2.5 points and at least 85% on quizzes by October 8 will earn the reward- Bubbles and Blowpops with Mrs. Terry and Ms. Maddy.
This goal is very achieveable!
Storybook Pumpkin Decorating Event
Did you bring your pumpkin to the library yet?
Alice Boucher library will be hosting a Book Character Pumpkin Event. All students are welcome to participate. Pumpkins will be displayed throughout the library for viewing. We will ask businesses and our community partners to visit our library and select their favorites. Recognition will be given to the top 3 students in each class and each grade level. The grade level with the most students participating will receive a special incentive! Decorated pumpkins may be brought in for display beginning October 1 through October 25.
AR data- words read
We will be working on a form which will display the data weekly! Next week we will share the words read in 9W1 by grade level then shoutout the students who reached their goals.
