Are You In The Christmas Spirit Now?
On Tuesday, December 12th at 6 P.M. The Wirth Middle School’s band performed lots of wonderful Christmas music during the Winter Showcase. There were participants from Lalumier’s choir and dancers from School of Choice. The high school choir even honored the guests with a variety of favorite Christmas carols. After the Merry Christmas performance Mr. Glasper, a music teacher, highlighted the following 8th grade Wirth Middle School band students; Erica Boyd, Breanna White, Aaron Rose, D’lando Wooten, Deja Porter, and Ramari Jefferson. They were highlighted because they far exceeded his expectations. He states that these students are on the path to receiving free college scholarships to a Historical Black College University if they continue to work as hard as they have been. We also want to give a special thanks to Mr. Glasper for being here for these students and pushing through, even when he feels worn out he comes to school to teach his students with a passion and encourages them to do good things, thank you Mr. Glasper!
Winter Wonderland
On 12/14/23, students of all grade levels attended a school wide event at Oliver Parks (6th Grade side) where students participated in decorating cookies and activities such as making fleece pillows, ornaments, christmas bracelets, christmas mugs, christmas magnets, and a 3D gingerbread house. The families always seem to enjoy this event! We plan to make this amazing event even better next year with the same activities and more. We also had Santa with us for our event spreading joy and Christmas spirit with his music playing throughout the halls! If you missed it this year make sure to come out next year to enjoy our engaging, fun, and free Christmas activities, we would love to have more families next year!
A Conversation with Mrs. Milazzo, creator of Winter Wonderland 2023
How long have we been celebrating this event?
We’ve been at it for 4 years now and definitely plan to continue.
Who is the founder of this event and why did they start it?
Mrs. Milazzo is the founder of the winter wonderland event. She started it with a vision for the students to bring their families and enjoy Christmas activities. By having a free night full of fun and also allowing the families to explore our school.
What are the benefits of coming?
Winter Wonderland is the perfect opportunity to come enjoy all the free Christmas activities by making memories, being creative, and building friendships.
Can we look forward to having more events like this in the future?
Yes we plan to do a similar event like the Winter Wonderland during the spring!
Special Thanks!
Mrs. Milazzo wanted to give a special thanks to Ms. Moorehead and Mrs. Hilmes for always stepping up to assist in the event every year, and she has hopes that when she retires that this event is still going under their guidance. Thanks to all the teachers that did a station this year. Also a very special thanks to the 21st century program, and the Tittle 1 grant department for providing the money for this event!
