March 5th - In-School SAT and PERT
Modified Bell Schedule and Information
MHS will operate a modified bell schedule on Wednesday, March 5th due to administration of the SAT. Please see below for information about what each grade level can expect on this day.
9th and 10th Grade Students
PERT Test Sign Up - Limited Seats!
Any 9th or 10th grade student who is interested in dual enrollment for the 25-26 school year and currently holds at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA is eligible to sign up to take the PERT at MHS on Wednesday March 5th. Seats are limited to the first 50 students who sign up.
Sign ups will be open until 12PM on Monday, March 3rd!!!
Students who are interested in dual enrollment and need PERT qualifying scores may also sign up to take the test at Daytona State College. For more information visit https://www.daytonastate.edu/dual-enrollment/index.html
All 9th and 10th Grade Students Not Testing
All 9th and 10th grade students will have a study hall on Wednesday, March 5th for the first four periods of the day (unless they are signed up for PERT testing). Please check Schoology for your assigned location.
11th Grade Students
All 11th grade students will take the SAT during school on Wednesday, March 5th. This is a great opportunity for our students to take this assessment free of charge. The SAT is used for college admissions, scholarship consideration (including Bright Futures) and also can be used as a concordant score for graduation purposes. Look out for testing locations to be posted in Schoology.
12th Grade Students
If you have not yet passed your FAST Reading or BEST Algebra EOC...
Any 12th grade student who has not yet met their testing requirements for graduation (FAST ELA Test and BEST Algebra 1 EOC or concordant score) will take the SAT on Wednesday, March 5th. Look out for testing locations to be posted in Schoology.
If you have met your graduation test scores...
12th grade students who have met both test scores for graduation will be participating in a study hall during the SAT on March 5th. Please check Schoology for your study hall location.

End of Year Preparations
The AICE SAC and General Assembly are working on our Induction/Pinning Ceremony and our End of the Year Banquet. We invite any and all AICE students to attend. Please join us in 1-205 on Thursdays afterschool until 4:30pm. Dates for the Induction Ceremony and the End of the Year Banquet will be announced next week, please be on the lookout.
AICE/AP Study Sessions
AICE/AP Study Sessions are now available after school on Thursdays (3-4:30pm) in Room 1-205 with Mrs Davis. Virtual Study Sessions are also available both Tuesday and Thursday evenings with Ms Doyle (6-7:30pm): meet.google.com/ujg-qewz-jgm (join with Google Meet). Please be sure to have the Opt In form completed in order to participate in either format.

Important Announcements
We are thrilled to announce that Jayden Sao has broken the bench record in the 129 lb class for boys weightlifting, a record that has stood since 2012. Congratulations, Jayden.
Celebrations From the Week
Lady Pirate Lacrosse Team: We are excited to share that the team achieved their first shutout win in over a decade, defeating Eastside with an impressive score of 20-0.
The Softball Team also had a remarkable week, Leah Stevens threw a no-hitter this week and Ashley Sampselle had the game winning hit with a thrilling 3-2 walk-off victory in extra innings last night.
Flag Football: Our Flag Football team secured their first win of the season by triumphing over Pierson Taylor on Tuesday night. Congratulations to the players and coaches.
JV Girls Flag Team: The JV girls also shined by defeating FPC last night. Great job, ladies!
Boys Weightlifting: The boys' weightlifting team won their home meet against Crescent City on Wednesday with a score of 46-40. Fantastic effort.

Free Athletic Physicals and ECG Screening Event
May 21 & 22 at FPCHS
Sign ups are open now for FREE Pre-Participation Physicals and ECG Screenings on Wednesday, May 21st and Thursday, May 22nd at Flagler Palm Coast High School. Pre-participation sports physicals are for any Flagler County student in grades 6-12. Students involved in JROTC, marching band, or other school activities requiring a physical may also participate.

Did you know MHS offers online free tutoring hosted by MHS teachers? Students can join these online sessions for math tutoring and homework help on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. This opportunity is open to all students, the link is posted on Schoology.

Dual Enrollment Registration Dates
Summer 2025 DSC Dual Enrollment Registration
Summer dual enrollment is only available to returning dual enrollment students, new dual enrollment students may not begin in summer.
Summer 2025 Deadline to Submit Registration form to your School Counselor: April 30th
Fall 2025 DSC Dual Enrollment Registration
January 1 - April 2: Application, Testing and Advising Window: New students must complete their application, orientation, new student advising session and placement testing within this period. All of these tasks are completed through Daytona State College directly.
April 3 - May 15th: Registration for Fall 2025. To be eligible for enrollment, students must have applied, tested, planned classes with a DSC advisor, and must submit a completed registration form to his or her school counselor by May 15th. The application, testing and advising process is completed directly between the student and Daytona State - for more information or assistance, see below.
Getting Started with Dual Enrollment
If you would like for your child to get started with dual enrollment, visit the Daytona State College Dual Enrollment website to: read through the complete dual enrollment handbook, apply for admissions, sign up for placement testing, orientation and advising sessions through Daytona State. All of these steps must be completed prior to reviewing your registration with your School Counselor.

Did you know that MHS has a representative from Daytona State College on campus regularly to answer student questions about all things DSC? The representative will be in the upper spot (guidance) during both lunches on the following day and can answer questions about dual enrollment, coursework, admissions and more!

Do you still need to pass the Algebra 1 or ELA exam? If you have not yet met the English Language Arts (ELA) and Math exam test score requirements for high school graduation, you can also take the ACT, CLT and/or SAT exams to work towards meeting the concordant score needed for graduation.

Seniors! You may meet the criteria for the Florida Seal of the Fine Arts, a program established to recognize high school graduates who have met exemplary benchmarks in fine arts coursework. If you have taken multiple years of fine arts (performing or visual), and have been involved with outside activities, competitions and service, consider applying at the link below:
Cap and Gown Ordering Information
Cap and Gown Ordering Information
If you have not yet ordered your cap and gown, please visit the link below for more information and to order. Cap and gown delivery will be on April 4, 2025.
Note: students are NOT required to purchase a graduation package from the website, families may choose to order individual items such as cap & gown by scrolling down to "Shop All Graduation Products" on the Jostens website. Look for "Custom Cap/Gown/Tassel/Medallion Unit" which includes a cap, gown and tassel. The school medallions are provided by MHS to all students on the day of graduation.
Using a Former Graduate's Gown?
We know that some of our students use gowns previously worn by their older siblings - if you are planning to do this, please contact Ms. Alred, our Senior Sponsor (alredb@flaglerschools.com), so that she can verify that you have the most up to date regalia and if needed, work with our Jostens representative to bring your gown up to date.
Having Financial Difficulty?
We know that some of our families have financial hardship that prevent them from being able to afford the cap and gown. If your family needs financial assistance to be able to purchase a cap and gown, please reach out to your child's school counselor directly (contacts below) and she will be able to help.
