MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
245th ISSUE: November 4, 2022
From the Desk of Mr. Cody O'Neill
Its been officially 3 months since I have started my AD position here at Marian. We had a great fall sports season with a lot of teams competing at the highest level. We had 4 girls tennis players make it to state, as well as a boy and girls golfers. Working with the coaches for the fall teams was a great experience, getting to know them and figuring out how to work together. It is not easy for coaches to have someone new come in and tell them what to do all the time. We are gearing up for the winter season and I hope to see you all at our home games throughout the winter season.
Since my time here at Marian, a lot has changed. Both good and bad. One of the biggest things I’ve noticed is that kids just don’t like to be involved in athletics when they become seniors, or if it doesn’t benefit them in certain ways. I have never really understood why you wouldn't try to be a part of a team each season. Now, I was only a football player and a wrestler, but that was because I was injured my junior and senior years after wrestling season and didn’t make the baseball team my freshman or sophomore year. There’s one thing I want to let every kid here at Marian know….This is probably the last time you’ll get to play an organized sport at the highest level.. So please be involved, be part of a team and help better Marian athletics by being part of something special.

Illness at School
Tis the Season…for illness. Please see the following excerpt from the Student Handbook:
Students becoming ill during the school day should report to the school office receptionist. The parents will be notified of this, and appropriate procedures will be followed. Students are not allowed to text (or otherwise contact) parent/guardian and have parent/guardian call the school to initiate the dismissal process. The school office will not interrupt a class to retrieve a student under these circumstances. Students must report to the school office FIRST to begin the process.
