Nancy Young Elementary School is proudly celebrating its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter-century of dedication to fostering well-balanced world citizens. Since its establishment, the school has been committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to excel academically, socially, and emotionally. Through a rich curriculum that emphasizes awareness, cultural diversity, and community engagement, Nancy Young Elementary has equipped generations of students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to thrive in an interconnected world. This milestone anniversary not only honors the school's past achievements but also reaffirms its ongoing goal to inspire and prepare young minds for a bright and responsible future.
Registration Update
Currently, we are missing about 15% of our population who we believe are returning to our school, but they have not registered. If you do not register, we cannot assign your child a teacher. If your neighbor or friend need a reminder, please forward them this email.

We want to congratulate Mr. Pape on accepting a position at Granger Middle School. We wish you the BEST of luck on your next adventure. Currently, I am interviewing for the open music teacher. We will announce the lucky person soon!
Kindergarten Screening(s) - Tuesday, August 6th from 5:00-5:45PM OR 6:00-6:45PM
On August 6th there will be two opportunities for you and your new kindergarten(s) to come into NYE! Please pick one time either 5:00-5:45PM or 6:00-6:45PM and plan to come into Nancy Young Elementary. This is not mandatory; however, we do feel your attendance will benefit you and your child.
During this time, I will have a short presentation in the LMC for the parents and your child will be escorted to a kindergarten room by a friendly staff member. Your child will join some friends, listen to a story and work with a staff memeber.

Thursday, August 12th - How to Find Your Child’s Teacher Assignment
1. Login to your ParentVUE account. Click here for ParentVUE
2. Click on the category on the left called “Class Schedule” where you will be able to view your teacher assignment. See image below.

New Family Self-Guided Tour Night - Wednesday, August 14th from 5:30-6:30
During this time families who are new to Nancy Young are welcome to come into the building. This event is not intended for kindergarten families, however, if your child is apprehensive about the upcoming transition, you are welcome to bring them. Please know teachers will not be available to meet during this time, but members from the office staff will be present and ready to greet you with a smile.
Meet your Teacher - Monday, August 19th from 2:30-3:00
At 2:30PM on Monday, August 19th all students and loved ones will be welcomed into the school to see the positive changes throughout Nancy Young as well as drop off their school supplies. Please plan to enter the school in the front of the building by the main exit and leave through the recess doors as indicated on the map. Do not worry about navigating the building, we will have staff on hand to direct you and your child (ren) to their respective classrooms.
At 2:55PM we will ask everyone to exit the building. At that time, you will be invited to mingle with fellow community members and have a sweet treat provided by our amazing PTA on the blacktop.
Kindergarten FIRST recess - Tuesday, August 20th from 5:00-5:30
At NYE we embrace the future, but we continue to honor the past. Since I have been named principal, we have hosted a FIRST and LAST recess. What is this!?! All incoming kindergartens are welcome to join us on the playground starting at 5:00PM on Tuesday, August 20th. During this time, I will be present, and we will officially "sign" each child up to join our family. Be sure to bring your camera, because this is a photo opt you will NOT want to miss. After the photo opt all children will enjoy the playground equipment as the adventure begins!
A short 13 years later NYE graduates will be welcomed back for our LAST recess. Bring the Kleenex to both events. :-)
How to Find Your Child’s Bus Route Information in ParentVUE - Wednesday, August 21st
1. Log in to ParentVUE.
2. Click on “Student Info” on the left navigation menu.
3. Scroll all the way down to the bottom to find “Transportation Information”
*Students should be at the assigned bus stop at least 5 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time.
** Please check to ensure the information is updated on Wednesday, August 21st. **
Information Regarding School Meals
If you feel your family could benefit from reduced or free lunches, please click and fill out the applications below. To qualify, families MUST apply and be approved yearly. For your convenience I included the links below. Please do not send any completed paperwork to the Nancy Young staff or to the main office. The application askes for personal information which is why they need to be turned into central office.

Uber Eats and Uber Rides
Due to both saftey and staffing challenges Uber eats deliveries will not be accepted. Your child can purchase a hot lunch if needed. Cold lunches will be accepted. Please use the provided supplies to write your child's name and grade on the lunch. Lunch staff will check the station prior to each lunch time.
Minors are NOT allowed to be dropped off or picked up in an Uber unless an adult (over the age of 18) is in the car with the minor.
Lost and Found
Lost and found items will be gathered and kept on a table in the lunchroom. If your child misplaces something please encourgae them to look on the table. Prior to donatating items to a local charity, I will advise the community.
I forgot...
Due to both safety and staffing challenges no forgotten items will be accepted throughout the school day. Only items that are required per a child's IEP/504 or health plan will be accepted.
