Ask for data on program completion rates, percent who pass any required credentials exams, career placement (what percent of students are placed with an employer and for which employers, pay rate, etc), full costs, etc. They are recruiting you but you are also 'interviewing' them and the opportunity!

COMPUTER AIDED DRAFTING
Computer- Aided Drafting has many high paid positions in the Metro area. A career certificate enables students to enhance their job-relevant skills in the workplace using CAD software. They are able to use 2-D and a variety of 3-D CAD solids modeling software to complete the drafting details and assemblies.
Graduation Requirements To earn this degree, a student must complete all required courses.

CAREERS IN THE MEDICAL FIELD
THINK ABOUT GETTING AN CNA
High school students can take Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) classes at Metropolitan Community College (MCC) through the Concurrent Enrollment program. This program allows high school students to earn both high school and college credit at the same time.
Here are some steps for taking CNA classes at MCC:
- Apply: Complete the online CNA application.
- Admission: If the application is reviewed and the student meets the minimum requirements, they will be admitted and notified by email.
- Background check: Students will receive an email with a link to complete a background check.
- Enrollment: Students will be enrolled in the requested section if possible.
- Course schedule: Students will receive an email with their course schedule and bookstore information.
Students can also call MCC at (531) 622-2400 to schedule an advising appointment with a Success Navigator or Academic Advisor.
Some admission requirements for the CNA program include:
- Being at least 16 years old
- Submitting a completed application form
- Submitting a signed and dated Technical Standards form
- Submitting a signed and dated Background Check form
- Providing proof of a current Mantoux PPD Skin test (Tuberculosis test)

LEARN TO ROLL WITH THE PROS
Training to become a truck driver takes less time and the cost is much lower than many other careers. Often tuition is reimbursed through programs offered by hiring companies. Pro-Fleet offers competitive tuition and several easy financing opportunities. If you truck in your own state, you can begin as young as 18 years old. If you wish to drive across state lines, you need to be 21. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median income for truck drivers in 2021 was $48,310 per year or $23.23 per hour.

The four-year (6,000 hour) Boilermaker Apprenticeship Program is a great opportunity to receive the training, education and benefits to succeed in the career and lifestyle as a boilermaker. Please review the basic qualifications to begin the application process.
How to Become an Apprentice with Local 83:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school education (high school diploma or GED)
- Be able to travel and work seasonally
- Must live within Local 83's jurisdiction: Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas or Western Missouri
- Fill out SAJAC (Southeastern Area Joint Apprenticeship Committee) application online
- SAJAC will then place each applicant into a Group (1-4), depending on applicant experience and skill level
- There will be a random drawing to choose an X number of potential apprentices at the end of each month
- Those names will be placed on the active applicant roster and will remain for two years if not chosen to become indentured
- On an as-needed basis, Local 83 will indenture apprentices to go through the 4-year Apprentice Program
- If applicants have not been indentured within the two-year period, the applicant must re-apply
- Exception: If you are a veteran, with an Honorable Discharge, and have completed the Helmets to Hardhats registration, your name will be at the top of the applicant registry

Minimum Qualifications and Application Procedures
- All applicants shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- All applicants shall present a Social Security Card issued by the Social Security Administration.
- All applicants must provide documentation that establishes both identity and employment authorization as required by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Form I-9.
- All applicants shall be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program without posing a direct threat to the health and safety to the individual or others.

CARPENTERS TRAINING INSTITUTE
On-the-job Training
Work with your hands, learn about the unique materials applied throughout the industry, and get comfortable using a variety of tools and techniques to safely and efficiently produce high-quality work. The skills you learn at Carpenters Training Institute can be applied on job sites across the Midwest.
The classroom portion of the program will provide you with the knowledge and understanding needed to read blueprints and layouts, estimate time and materials, judge load capacities, and ensure the safety of everyone on the job site.
Earn While You Learn
There’s no cost to attend Carpenters Training Institute. A small portion of every member’s benefits pays for the training program as a whole, and every member’s benefits help pay for facilities, materials, and instructor wages. You’ll also receive a pension, insurance, and retirement savings while developing your craft.

OJEATC ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP
The Construction Wireman program is a four-year entry-level program that consists of five levels. A placement test will be given if an applicant has the prior verifiable experience, by way of check stubs, W-2s, tax forms, or a letter from previous contractors. Starting pay for a CW-1 is $14.00 per hour on the check. Pay increases as you advance up to the level of CW-5. The pay for a CW-5 is $22.00 per hour on the check. Advancement is achieved by: completing the required coursework; working the required number of hours; and taking a test to show skill improvement. At any time, a person may choose to stay at their current pay period. After completing all five levels, you may enter into the Construction Electrician program.
The Construction Electrician program is a three-year program intended for electrical workers with more than 8000 hours (about four years) of verifiable experience. A placement test will be given when the applicant has provided verifiable experience, by way of check stubs, W-2s, tax forms, or a letter from previous contractors. The starting pay for a CE-1 is $26.00. Pay increases with advancement and can reach up to $32.00 per hour on the check. Once the person receives a Journeymen’s license from the States of Nebraska and Iowa and successfully completes the final test of the Craft Certification, the Construction Electrician will become eligible for Journeyman Wireman status in IBEW Local 22.
The Apprenticeship program offers several programs with different focus areas: Inside (Construction/Industrial), Residential, and Low Voltage. The individual career paths allow you to earn while you learn. These programs focus on hands-on and classroom instruction over the course of three to five years.

The apprenticeship training here at Local Union 464 are part of a select group of men and women motivated to learn a complex and challenging trade while upholding the ideals of trade unionism.
Local 464 apprentices learn through both classroom study and on-the-job training in what is considered by many to be the best construction industry training. We have set our standards high here at Local 464 to be the best. You must believe that you are the best, because the only thing we can sell is our skills.

Construction Craft Laborers Apprenticeship
To join the Laborers International Union of North America, one must participate in Laborers Local #1140 Apprenticeship Program.
The minimum qualifications for applicants are:
1. Not less than 18 years of age. Proof of age may be required.
2. Physically able to perform the work of the trade.
3. Minimum of a 12th grade education, copy of a high school transcript or GED required. Applicants must be able to read and write in the English language.
4. Must possess a valid drivers license.
5. Must submit to a drug test in compliance with current drug testing standards.
Applicants will be required to complete an application form and provide substantiating evidence or claimed qualifications. Applications are taken the first Wednesday of every month from 9am-2pm. You must bring required documents at time of application.
