Georgia Virtual School for Noobs

Georgia Virtual School is pretty awesome; it's on all the time. 24-7 style. There are some things you have to know about deadlines and such, but once you get that figured out, you can work any time of the day or night. Let's get started!

When you log in to your course, you will see a logo for your email. Did you even know you HAVE email?

When you created your GAVS account, an email address was automatically created for you. You're expected to use this email address to correspond with your teacher. All you have to do is click on the icon and log in.

You can login using the same username you were assigned when you created the GAVS account and your password is the same password you chose during your account creation.. Your email address will be username@gavirtualschool.org

If you pay close attention during the student orientation course, you should already have a good idea how to navigate your GaVS course. If you weren't paying attention or need a little help, try one of these videos.

Take a peek at the picture below; click on your session to access the correct syllabus. Scroll all the way to the bottom to the course schedule. Print this and follow it daily! Each of the teachers who are instructing this course carefully decided which assignments, discussions, tasks, quizzes, and projects must be completed. The content will reference all items, but the COURSE SCHEDULE tells you what is required and when it is due.

On your course home page, you will see a link for the instructor's office. This is a "chat room" of sorts, where the instructor will hold weekly office hours. You can bring your questions at that time to get help solving your math problems.

Each session is recorded and the link will be posted under "User Links" so if you can't make it, you can watch the recording later.

It is really important to read this...you need to know. All quizzes and tests are timed. Once you open a quiz, you cannot pause it. The timer will run and once the time is up the ONLY action you can perform is to click submit.

PLEASE!!!! Don't open the quizzes or tests until you're ready to take them.

If you're new, you'll have lots of questions. On the right side of your course home page, you can find a link to your teacher's email address and phone number. Ask your teacher questions...it's what we're here for.

Oh...and although it might seem weird, calling or texting your teacher in an online course is perfectly ok; that's why we give you our numbers! Just be sure to identify yourself and leave a message if your call isn't answered and you will get a response within 24 hours Monday-Friday.
