Thank you for an incredible school year. Thanks to the wonderful Corley Community, our students, staff, and school have flourished. I hope you have an amazing summer, and I look forward to collaborating with you next year as a team to make a lasting impact on our Corley Scholars! Summer Office Hours
Just a friendly reminder that the school office will be operating on summer hours starting May 28th. Here's a quick rundown of the schedule.
Please note: Registration is by appointment only, please call to make an appointment. Additionally, withdrawals may take up to 24-48 hours to process. If you have any questions or need to reach us during these times, please don't hesitate to call the school office at 678-924-5330.
- May 27th: Closed (Memorial Day)
- May 28th to June 7th: 8:00AM - 3:30PM
- Summer School (June 10th-28th): 7:30AM - 3:30PM (Closed on June 19th for Juneteenth)
- July 1st-5th: Closed (Independence Day)
- July 8th-18th (Monday-Thursday): 7:00AM - 3:30PM

Summer School & Kindergarten Academy
In June, Corley will be hosting Summer School for students who received an invitation based on promotion criteria.
Additionally, rising kindergarteners enrolled in our Kindergarten Academy can get a head start on their school journey. They'll meet new friends, explore exciting learning activities, and be fully prepared for a fantastic first year!
Summer School & Kindergarten Academy Information
- Location: Corley Elementary
- Dates: June 10-28 (June 19th: School & Office will be closed for Juneteenth)
- Arrival: 8:00 a.m.
- Dismissal: 2:00 p.m.

School Supply List for 2024-2025
Summer is a time for adventures, relaxation, and making memories. But before we know it, those school bells will be ringing again! To help your child get a head start on a successful school year, take a look at the School Supply list for 2024-2025. By planning ahead, you can avoid the last-minute scramble and ensure you and your child have a stress-free start to the new school year. We look forward to welcoming them back in the fall!
Coming to a stop near you: The Book Mobile!
The Book Mobile will be out providing opportunities for students to check out books to read during the summer. Anyone who boards the bus can check out two books each week, return them the next, check out two more…and read all summer! Meals will be provided at the first four stops only for 3 weeks: June 10th -June 28th
Eye Exams at the Public Library
The Gwinnett County Public Library will be conducting free eye exams (by appointment only) this summer. Here's what you need to know:

- Exams are only available for children ages 5-18 (Grade PreK-12). The eye exam will be about 20-30 minutes.
- Please arrive 10 min before your appointment to fill out paperwork. Please expect that the wait time may be up to 1 hour.
- Children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
- If an appointment date and time is not available, please email georgia@visiontolearn.org to be added to the waitlist.
- Please note, if you are booking multiple kids, you will have to book an appointment for each child.

Georgia Special Needs Scholarships: SB10 and SB47
Under state laws passed by the Georgia State Legislature, parents of students who receive special education services or accommodations under a Section 504 Individual Accommodation Plan may request to transfer their child to another public or private school in Georgia.
This applies to any student who receives special education services, grades PK-11th and any returning 12th grader, and students eligible for a Section 504 Plan and in grades Kindergarten-11th.
Information regarding the Georgia Special Needs Scholarships is accessible on the GCPS Department of Special Education and Psychological Services website.

Learning Resources Available this Summer
Keep your child's learning on track this summer with i-Ready and Amplify! These engaging educational resources will be available for all current Kindergarten through 8th grade students from June 3rd to July 5th.
While Chromebooks won't be going home over summer break, students can still access their i-Ready and Amplify accounts by logging in to their student portal from a computer, tablet, or even a smartphone! This is a fantastic opportunity to help your child review key concepts and get ready for a successful upcoming school year.

Vaccination Information
Georgia law requires all students attending a school or childcare facility have a Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231) that has a future date of expiration or is marked complete for the grade
level that the student is entering. Please read the flyers below for more information.

The Georgia Afterschool Program (GASP) will be available at Corley next school year. You can register your child HERE.

May Highlights
National School Principal Day
We started this month off on a high note celebrating National Principal's Day! It was a joy to see the outpouring of appreciation for Mrs. Duckworth. The hallway leading to her office was a masterpiece, filled with colorful, handmade posters and signs expressing students' and staff's gratitude. A special thank you again to Mrs. Duckworth for everything she does for the Corley Community. Her dedication and leadership truly make a difference!

Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week was a smash hit! We rolled out the red carpet for our amazing teachers and staff with a Hollywood-themed celebration, and the treats were a five-star affair.
But beyond the sweet treats, what truly warmed our hearts were the heartfelt messages from our students. A huge thank you to all the families who helped their children complete the fan mail postcards. Those kind words of encouragement and appreciation for our teachers' and staff's hard work and dedication were more valuable than any gold statue! They truly brightened our week and reminded us of the incredible impact we have on our young stars. Thank you once again for your support and for helping make Teacher Appreciation Week so special!

A Fond Farewell to Mrs. Knox!
In May, Corley Elementary bid a bittersweet farewell to our beloved Assistant Principal, Ms. Tammy Knox. After 13 dedicated years of service to our school community, Ms. Knox has embarked on a well-deserved retirement.
For over a decade, Ms. Knox has been a constant source of support for our students, staff, and families. Her unwavering dedication, positive spirit, and genuine care for each child have left an indelible mark on Corley. Whether it was resolving student concerns, fostering a welcoming environment, or simply offering a kind word, Ms. Knox's presence will be deeply missed.
We are incredibly grateful for Ms. Knox's countless contributions to Corley's success. We wish her all the very best in her retirement and future endeavors. We have no doubt she will continue to make a positive impact wherever her journey takes her.

International Night
Thank you to all the families who joined us for International Night on May 14th. Your presence brought warmth and joy to the evening, making it a truly memorable community event. The array of cultural presentations and the vibrant fine arts performances showcased the wonderful diversity of our school community. Thank you for sharing in this celebration of our global heritage.

Kindergarten Promotion Ceremony
On May 16th, our kindergarteners marked their big move to first grade with a celebratory ceremony! Our young scholars were all smiles as they participated in the festivities. We extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who joined us in celebrating this momentous occasion, and to our dedicated kindergarten teachers whose hard work this year helped prepare these young minds for their exciting journey to first grade!

Award Ceremonies (1st-4th Grade)
Our recent Second Semester Awards Day was a success! We cheered on our 1st-4th graders for their academic achievements, growth as learners, and positive classroom contributions. Their hard work throughout the semester truly shined. Huge thanks to our incredible families and dedicated teachers whose unwavering support played a vital role in their success. What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of the year!
5th Grade Promotion Celebration
On May 21st, a promotion ceremony was held at Berkmar High School to honor our fifth-grade students' achievements as they transition to middle school. The ceremony recognized the students' hard work and dedication throughout their elementary school careers. We extend our gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support along the way, and to all the teachers who have invested in our students' growth and development during their elementary years.
