Seven teams qualify for Destination Imagination Global Finals
π Eight teams representing Anoka-Hennepin Schools competed at the Destination Imagination state competition at Coon Rapids Middle School April 7. Seven teams advanced to the Global Finals which will be held May 22-25 in Kansas City, Mo.
Teams from around the state competed in various challenge topics consisting of science, fine arts, improvisation, engineering and community service.
Over 150,000 students participate in Destination Imagination, and only the top one percent of teams qualify for the Global Finals. State competition results.
Superintendent Cory McIntyre visits COMPASS program for roundtable discussion
Anoka-Hennepin Superintendent Cory McIntyre has facilitated conversations with students at district high schools throughout the 2023-24 school year and on April 9, visited the districtβs COMPASS program.
About COMPASS: The Anoka-Hennepin COMPASS programs help meet students' unique learning and behavior needs. The goals of the programs are to facilitate studentsβ academic progress, to provide support and guidance, and to increase studentsβ social-emotional skills to help set them up for success.
Why it matters: Superintendent McIntyre values student voice in decision-making and ensures the district provides a safe, welcoming, positive school environment. During the hour-long sessions, McIntyre and other school district administrators want to hear what the high school experience is like from the student perspective and learn ways to improve programming.

Community Education: Families can now register for summer class and activities
Itβs time to gear up for a season filled with excitement and enrichment! Anoka-Hennepin Community Education offers classes and activities for youth from preschool to grade eight, providing a perfect blend of learning and fun.
Whether your child is passionate about sports, arts, sciences, or simply looking to explore new interests, itβs covered! Summer programming is designed to foster personal growth, creativity, and social interaction.

Middle school dance teams perform in district competition
π Friends and families filled the field house at Anoka High School on Tuesday night to watch the districtβs middle school dance teams perform in the end-of-season competition.
Hosted by Anoka-Hennepin Community Education, teams from all six middle schools participated in the annual event.
Dancers, grades 6-8, practiced after school to perfect their skills. βAβ and βBβ teams were formed in late February. Coaches for each team selected the songs and choreographed a unique routine for performances.
Community Education hosts elementary floor hockey tournament
π Anoka-Hennepin Community Education hosted an elementary floor hockey tournament Friday, April 5 at AMSA. Students from five teams showcased their incredible skills and sportsmanship. From exhilarating goals to epic saves, every moment was filled with excitement and teamwork. First place went to the Mighty Ducks from Jefferson Elementary and second place went to The Ducks from Wilson Elementary.
Middle School students participate in ping pong tournament
π The much-anticipated district ping pong showdown took place Friday evening April 5 at Roosevelt Middle School. Players from six middle schools came together to battle it out for the title of 'Ping Pong Champion'. It was a night of competition, camaraderie, and some seriously impressive ping pong skills!

π₯3rd place: Quentin Emmons, Northdale Middle School
