Message To Parents From Our Executive Headteacher
Dear Parent/Carer,
I hope you had a lovely half term holiday.
It is lovely to see the children and staff, refreshed from their break with a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm. A lot was accomplished last half term and as we approach the end of our first week back, school life is as busy as ever.
Last Monday, we celebrated the feast day of our patron saint, St Charles, with Mass in our local church, St Pius X. What a wonderful occasion and well done to all the children who not only read and sang beautifully, but also listened attentively to the readings and demonstrated respectful and reverent behaviour.
Our Admissions meetings for prospective parent/carers of new Nursery and Reception pupils for September 2025, took place this week. If you are interested in a Reception/Nursery place for September 2025 but were unable to attend the recent meetings, please contact the school office to arrange a tour with a senior leader.
There are lots of events happening in the coming weeks so please check the diary dates.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Best Wishes,
Ms Geraldine Hampton
Religious Life Of The School
In November we Remember!
During the month of November, we remember our family and friends who have passed away. We also remember all the people who have died in wars, not just in World War One and World War Two, but also in more recent conflicts.
This coming Sunday is Remembrance Sunday when we remember all those who have died in conflict. There are usually ceremonies at war memorials, cenotaphs and churches throughout the country. The Royal Family and top politicians gather at The Cenotaph in Whitehall, London, for a memorial service.
On Monday, we will hold a Remembrance Liturgy in school, observing a two-minute silence at 11am as we come together in reflection and prayer.
Dear God our Father,
We want to say thank you for all those who have fought and died for the freedom we enjoy today.
We remember past conflicts, but we also remember all those who are fighting and dying in current wars.
We remember too their families and friends and ask that you will give comfort to them.
Teach us to be compassionate and caring people,
Ever-mindful of the needs of others.
We will remember.
Amen.

Gospel: The poor widow (Mark 12:38-44)
Using the Wednesday Word link below, read this Sunday’s Gospel
and reflect on the questions below with your family.
You will have an opportunity to discuss them again next week in School during the Gospel/Well done Assembly.

KS1
- Why did the disciples have to beware of the Scribes?
- Why did Jesus sit and watch people putting money into the treasury?
- Why is the widow better in God’s eyes than the scribes? What did the widow do?
KS2
- How did Jesus describe the scribes? How were they different to the poor?
- Why did Jesus think the poor widow had given more than the scribes, even though she gave less money?
- Can you find another piece of scripture which has this message?
Attendance
Our whole school attendance is currently at 94.4%
We are working towards achieving 96% attendance this academic year. Please help us to achieve this by ensuring that your child attends school each day and by not booking any holiday during term time. Please be aware that holiday leave in term time cannot be authorised.
In line with the Department for Education guidelines, where pupils miss school without a good reason (including a holiday), the Local Authority and schools can intervene, and you may be issued a fine.
There is strong correlation between good attendance and good progress. So together, let’s give our children the best possible chance of reaching their potential.
If you have misplaced your copy of the letter which was sent out this week, and would like your child/ren to attend the disco, please see Sophie in the office to collect another consent form.
Harvest
Year 1 have been working hard harvesting crops from our school garden. What a great result!!
Reception's Self Portrait's
Inspired by Andy Warhol’s pop art, our Reception children had a fun time creating their very own self-portrait masterpieces!
The Call of Abram
In RE year 4 focused on The Call of Abram. We spent some of our lesson role playing what might have been going through Abram’s mind when he was called by God. Half of the class were trying to convince him to stay, whilst the other half told him to trust in God.
Resilience and Learning Heroes
Congratulations to the following children who were recognised for making good choices during the week beginning 8th November.
