Dear Families,
We’re in the last stretch! The days between now and June 14th, the last day of school, will fly by! As you can see, they are very full.
We had a delicious Volunteer Luncheon prepared by Barbara. It was lovely that so many of you could join us. Thank you to all for the many ways you contribute to the school. The vibrancy of the school community relies on your generous and creative support.
Pick-up time - If you are planning to stay with your child/ren after school or you just want to chat a few minutes with other parents, please move to the playground with your child/ren as soon as they have crossed over. If you’re not heading to the playground, please have your child/ren get in the car as soon as they cross over. We want to be sure everyone is safe. Thank you.
NEASC Visit - As part of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accreditation process, the organization is sending a team to visit ACSD from May 8th through 10th. During that time, they will meet with various components of the district organization and visit each school. A team will be at Weybridge the morning of May 9th, observing classrooms, meeting with teachers and students. The NEASC accreditation process is aligned with the International Baccalaureate reauthorization process. Both organizations will be in district visiting schools several times during the 2024-25 school year.
Gardening at Weybridge - Chris Eberly is interested in getting a summer gardening program going at the school. We’re trying to gauge interest and availability for planning, planting and maintaining gardens over the summer. Hopefully we can supply some fresh vegetables and herbs for the meals program. Please contact Chris chris.eberly@gmail.com or me if you would like to explore this idea and create a plan for making it happen.
Lunch volunteers - We need help all days next week. Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or sign up directly here if you can help with lunch prep and service, 11:00-12:00 between now and the end of the school year. Even one day helps. Thanks.
Warmly, Christina
Teacher appreciation week is May 6th!
We extend Teacher Appreciation Week to all staff and celebrate all month long! Our teachers and staff do so much to support our students and community. You can help us recognize them! Click here to share your appreciation.
Your appreciations also help to inform our nominations for our fall Teacher & Staff of the Year awards! We share as many of these appreciations as possible (last year we received over 220!)

ACSD Equity Update & Listening Circles
This fall, ACSD worked with Dr. Rebecca Eunmi Haslam to address issues of racial equity at MUMS and MUHS through a confidential study called The Listening Circles Project. Now we are extending her work to our elementary school students and staff.
The goal of the Listening Circles Project is to hear directly from students and staff about what we can do to eliminate racial harm and ensure everyone feels safe and valued at school. All students and staff at our elementary schools are invited to participate. To participate you must read and fill out this consent form (parents/guardians fill it out on behalf of their child.) Listening circles will begin at elementary schools as early as next week, so please fill out the form as soon as possible if you want your child to participate. Parents of elementary students who participate will also have an opportunity to meet with Dr. Haslam.
As part of her work with secondary students and staff, Dr. Haslam is finalizing a report and recommendations for the ACSD administration. The elementary portion of this work will also result in a report and recommendations. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us as ACSD works to make all students and staff feel safe and valued.
Volunteer with the Weybridge conservation commission
Are you a resident of Weybridge? Do you care about protecting and enhancing the natural environment? Do you want to connect with neighbors who feel the same? The Weybridge Conservation Commission (WCC) is seeking new members/volunteers and would love to hear from you. The WCC acts as a voice for conservation in the town of Weybridge, serving the Selectboard and residents on matters relating to land and natural resource conservation, and making recommendations for use of the Town Conservation Fund. The WCC meets once per month at the Town Office or on Zoom.
If you're interested but aren't sure you can commit to joining monthly meetings, the WCC would be happy to help match you with an engagement activity that meets your interests and availability.
