This week's staff spotlight is Mrs. Wanda Hill. Wanda teaches in Preschool 2s.
How many years have you been teaching?
I have been teaching for 4 years, 3 of those at LCA.
Where did you attend college?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Walden University (Minneapolis, MN). I also have an Associate's degree in Social Work from Waubonsee Community College (Aurora, IL).
What do you love most about LCA?
I love that LCA incorporates the Bible in the curriculum. It is a true Christian school.
Tell us about your family.
I am the mother of 3 children (Michael Jr., Imani, and Iyonna). I have been married for 29 years (Anniversary: December 24th) to my husband, Michael.
Have you always lived in the DFW area?
No, I moved to the DFW area in 2021. I lived in Naperville, IL for 23 years before moving to the DFW area.
Tell us about a teacher who inspires you now or inspired you as a child.
While many teachers have inspired me as a child, one teacher, Ms. Chestang, stands out. Ms. Chestang was my 9th grade teacher. She instilled confidence in me that I could become whatever I wanted to be in life. Coming from a family with limited education, I felt that my options were limited. She inspired me to be my best. I was a first-generation college graduate.
What are you most excited about for this school year?
I am most excited to continue working with the littles. I enjoy helping them to develop and learn new skills. I like seeing the difference in them from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.
How do you spend your summer breaks?
I spend my summer breaks traveling and enjoying time with my family.
What is your dream vacation?
My dream vacation destination is Jamaica. I have gone twice, and my experience has been great both times.
