BOBCAT BULLETIN
MARCH 2025
FROM OUR ACTING PRINCIPAL MS GARNEY
Dear Families,
March is here, and it’s hard to believe we’re entering the final quarter of the school year! Before we know it, summer will be around the corner, but there is still plenty of learning and growing ahead.
A reminder that Spring Break is from March 7th-14th, and we hope our students and families enjoy a well-deserved break. School will resume on Monday, March 17th, which also marks the start of the 4th quarter. This is a great time to revisit school expectations and encourage students to finish the year strong—staying focused, being kind, and doing their best each day.
Thank you for your continued support. Let’s make this last quarter a great one!
Best,
Chelsea Garney, Acting Principal
JUMPING IN FROM THE GYM
What We Did:
February
The beginning of February saw students working on their hockey (striking) skills. They learned how to handle a puck, pass to a teammate and shoot on goal. We finished the month taking a u-turn away from dribbling and focused on our up body strength. Students learned and tried to climb ropes and traversed across our climbing wall. The intermediate grades also participated in a 10 part obstacle course that tested their strength, speed, balance and agility.
What’s Next:
March 3 - March 5: Choice Week/Obstacle Course
March 10 - March 14: SPRING BREAK
March 17 - March 21: Volleying (K-5th)
March 24 - March 28: Creative Movement and Dance (K-2) / Volleying (K-5th)
Baxter Bobcat Basketball
The Baxter Bobcat basketball team finished their season strong at the Coach Leroy Jones Invitational. After losing a game in overtime the squad rebounded with a big win to finish out the tournament. Coach Jolling and Coach Knorr saw a great deal of dedication and improvement over the three months of the season. We are already looking forward to next year!
Upcoming Afterschool Physical Activity
Volleyball
Volleyball will begin for third through fifth graders starting March 18th and ending April 10th (four weeks). Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-3:30. Permission slips will be available on Monday, March 3rd.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Dear Baxter Bobcat Families,
Spring Break is just around the corner and students are both excited and are becoming slightly anxious as this time of the year student realize the end of school year is approaching. Students often cannot pinpoint why they begin to feel as they do, therefore please consider the following as we approach Spring break and during Spring break:
Check-in with your child before and after school and ask how they are doing. Many children experience difficulty sharing their thoughts and feelings and look to you to help them express their feelings and emotions.
Begin setting up a play date or two before Spring break begins. This helps students remain connected with a buddy or friend and helps keep them connected and less anxious.
For 4th and 5th grade students, at this time of the year they are beginning to also experience anxiety about leaving elementary school, excited and nervous about the unexpected in middle school. I provide many Social Emotional Lessons that are tailored specifically around preparing them for middle school.
Last, I cannot stress enough is communication with your child(ren). We are social creatures! We enjoy talking and we look to those we are talking to be active listeners. When having conversations with your child(ren), turn off the tv, games, music and truly tune in to what they have to share with you. You will be surprised at how communications becomes elevated between you and your child(ren) when you practice this each day even if only for 5-10 minutes. Try it and let me know how it goes!

MRS FULKERSON'S AND MS GAGNON'S CLASSES TOOK A TRIP TO THE MUSEUM
Thank you, PTA, for providing a bus to the museum. Kindergarten enjoyed exploring inventive engineering while second grade learned a lot about space and place. It was a great day!
