Brown School Buzz
August 23, 2024
Hello Brown School Families!
Thank you to all parents who were able to attend our Open House in September. We especially appreciate your feedback and the folks who have already filled out our Volunteer Interest form. PLease read on for more information on how you can volunteer at the Brown School and help us make a difference for every child.
Brown School Volunteer Campaign 2024!
Volunteers! Please join us! While we are working out hardest to meet the needs if all 448 Brown School students, we would love to have more folks be part of our team. We are looking for folks to read with small groups of students, do some problem solving, or maybe help out in the cafe or on the playground every once in awhile. Whether it's once or twice a week, a month or a year, we would love to have you on board.
We have had a positive response to our initial efforts and we are looking for more to join the fun. Please CLICK HERE to express your interest and availability. Thank you!
Employment Opportunities
If you aren't interest in volunteering, but are interested in a paying position, we still have openings for daily substitutes (choose your own days!), a cafe/recess supervisor, a Special Education Tutor, and a long term substitute in Special Education. Please contact Matt Manfredi or Me if you are interested in being part of our Brown School Team, or go to SCHOOL SPRING to apply!
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL-WALK-RIDE AND ROLL!
Great Turnout For Walk, Ride and Roll to School Day!
We had a great morning with more than 250 students walking, riding and rolling to school last week! Thank you for your efforts to show our kids the value of exercise, healthy choices, and taking care of our environment. MA Safe Routes to School sponsors this event twice a year and our PTO does a great job of organizing it. Special shout out to our crossing guards for all their help last week. Thank you PTO-Thank you Crossing Guards!
Introducing our Third Grade Leadership Council!
New at Brown School this year is our Third grade Leadership Council. It is never too early to learn about leadership, working together for the common good, and taking care of our school community. After an introduction to what a Leadership Council is and does, third graders were invited to write a paragraph stating why they think they would a good candidates for the council. Each student presented to their classrooms, students voted, and two representatives were elected to represent each classroom classroom. The Leadership Council will begin helping facilitate our Community Meeting on October 30. The students on this team have already shared many of their ideas about how we can make Brown even better than it already it! We are looking forward to watching them shine!
