Book Fair Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is a Book Fair?
Willett’s Fall and Spring “Book Fairs” are small, pop-up book stores that are set up in the Willett Library! These stores contain popular books curated for elementary-aged students and fun items like science-themed kits, fun pens and journals, bookmarks, erasers, and other gift items.
Our book fairs are put together by Scholastic, facilitated by the Willett Community, and are a lot of fun for parents, students, and teachers.
Our Book Fairs are held during Fall and Spring parent-teacher conference week, when students are dismissed early from school each day.
Why Shop at the Book Fair?
The Willett PTA receives 25% of each sale to fund programs and events that benefit ALL Willett students.
You can purchase a book for your child’s classroom! Teachers fill buckets with their most wanted items, you purchase and your child delivers!
Students have fun shopping at the Book Fair together after school. Shopping at the Book Fair is fun, festive, and students get excited about reading!
How Do I Pay?
You can pay with cash, credit cards, or set up an e-wallet for your child (this is like a Book Fair-specific gift card and your student can use it to shop without you!)
After paying, you or your child takes purchased items home! You don’t have to wait for orders to come in.

Youth Truth Survey: Submit Response by THIS FRIDAY 11/22
The Youth Truth Survey provides the school and district with feedback on how students feel about school life, supports on campus, and ways that we can improve school climate. Teachers will set aside time between now and November 22nd to administer the survey and I ask that all students be honest and truthful with their feedback.
Teachers and parents also have the option to fill out a similar survey to offer their feedback in regards to school climate and safety. Parents, please use the following link to access the parent survey with the same deadline of November 22nd.

Tips for a Successful Teacher/Parent Conference from the International House of Davis
Willett welcomes our International Families. If you or others you know are International parents looking for more information about and connection to life in Davis, the Davis International House has twice-monthly meetings to share resources and get to know others. More info here.
At a meeting in a previous year at Davis International House with International Parent Community (IPC) Facilitators and DJUSD teacher allies, helpful insights were shared about ways to increase Parent Teacher Conference success. Here is a summary:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Parent conferences are an important time for you to connect with your child’s teacher and learn more about how your child is doing in school. Here are some takeaways from the meeting today.
Prepare questions and send them to your child's teacher in advance by email.
- How is my child doing in the classroom?
- Is my child finishing the work assigned in class?
- Who is my child hanging out with during recess time?
- How can I help my child at home? etc...
Request an interpreter if you are not comfortable speaking in English.
- You can request an interpreter at your school.
- Contact your ELD teacher, classroom teacher or at the office. ASAP if you need one.
Support yourself, bring your spouse.
- If you are not confident about your communication skills, bring someone to help. Many parents bring spouses or other family members to join the meeting.
- How about my child? --> Some teachers are OK with having a child in the classroom during the conference but you need permission in advance. Ask your child's teacher.
Discuss the whole child.
- Let the teacher know about your child.
- If you let a teacher know about your child's hobbies, what he/she likes, that will help your teacher to talk to your child more.
- Your child’s social and emotional development is as important as academic success. Include questions about their interaction with other children and willingness to participate in class discussions.
Remember, you and the teacher are a team — working together and you both want your child to learn and do well.
Hope your conference will be successful!!!
