St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 9 | 26 JUNE 2025
“O, Jesus.
We adore you and we know you love us too.
We leave our school in your hands.
Here we shall create and discover with your grace.
Teach us how to love and respect.
Bless our principals, teachers, administrators, and our classmates.
Amen.”
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the conclusion of Term 2, I would like to thank our staff, students, and families for their ongoing support and partnership in creating a positive and engaged learning environment.
Next week, families will receive their child’s Semester 1 academic reports, which will be accessible via the online SEQTA Engage platform from Wednesday, 2 July at 3:30pm. Information has already been communicated to families regarding how to access these reports. I encourage all parents and carers to take the time to review and discuss their child’s progress and achievements.
Next Tuesday, 1 July, will be a busy and exciting day for our school community. Our interschool cross-country team will represent St Columba’s, and we wish all participating students the very best. I am confident they will perform with determination and represent the school with pride and sportsmanship.
Tomorrow, our Year 2W students will present their class assembly. We look forward to celebrating their learning and creativity with the broader school community.
This term, we successfully completed our School Compliance Audit. I am pleased to share that the school met all requirements and was commended for its thorough and effective practices. I would like to thank our staff for their professionalism and diligence in ensuring we continue to meet our regulatory and operational obligations.
To conclude the term, on Friday 4 July, we will celebrate NAIDOC Week with a liturgy at 9am. On this day, students are invited to wear clothing that reflects the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags as part of our week-long recognition of NAIDOC Week. Across the school, classes will engage in activities to acknowledge and honour the histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Thank you once again for your continued support throughout the term. I wish all families a safe and restful holiday break.
God bless, and keep safe.
Allen McMahon
Principal

The Week will conclude with a NAIDOC Liturgy on the last day of school, Friday 4 July at 9am. No donation is required.
Sacramental Program Update
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Year 6 Confirmation candidates who received the Sacrament of Confirmation over the weekend. It was a beautiful celebration of faith, with each student embracing this important step in their spiritual journey with reverence and maturity. A sincere thank you to the families, staff, and parish team who supported them throughout their preparation.
Looking ahead, we invite all families of students preparing for First Holy Communion to attend the Parent Information Night on:
📅 Tuesday 22 July
🕕 6:00pm
📍 St Columba’s Church
This session will provide essential information about the sacrament, preparation requirements, and key dates for the term ahead.
We look forward to continuing to walk alongside our students and families as they grow in faith and understanding.

Dear Parents,
School Photos will take place on Tuesday, 29 and Wednesday, 30 July 2025 (Term 3, Week 2).
Individual student SHOOTKEYS will be sent home as soon as they arrive. We are continuing with MSP Photography this year and parents are not required to bring back any envelopes. All individual and class photo orders are placed online.
If you do not require a school photograph this year you do not need to action anything.
Instructions for ordering photos will be on the student photo SHOOTKEY sheets and are self-explanatory. Only online orders are accepted. A wide choice of photo packs are available for purchase.
Should your child lose their individual order sheet you can request your child’s SHOOTKEY from the office.
Family Photos
Family Photos will be taken before school in the Library from 8:00am on Tuesday, 29 and Wednesday, 30 July.
If you would like a Family (sibling) photo taken we ask you to collect an envelope from Administration. We will advise when these are available.
Please ensure your FAMILY Envelope and payment are handed to the Photographers on Photo Day.
FAMILY Photos cannot be ordered online.
Any new students to the school will receive an individual SHOOTKEY form on photo day by the photographers.
All students in Years 3-6 will wear their formal uniform on Tuesday, 29 July.
The DRAFT photo schedule is below. Please note that this is not set and can be changed by the photographer without notice.
Please note that there are no scheduled Pre-Kindy photos this year as we have 4 classes, and the photographers are unable to attend across 4 days. Parents who wish to have professional photos of their Pre-Kindy child can attend the Family photo sessions.

DOSCA Footy Tipping Competition
Hi Team,
Round 15 is in the books, and the ladder is starting to tighten up as we head into the business end of the season. Freo continued their winning form to make it five in a row, and the Eagles… well, at least they didn’t lose this week.
🎯 Top Performers – Round 15:
Skip H – 5 tips, 36-point margin
Dan M – 5 tips, 14-point margin
Cameron W – 5 tips, 13-point margin
Santhosh P – 5 tips, 17-point margin
A solid showing from the mid-pack—could this be the start of a late surge?
📊 Overall Ladder (Top 5):
Brendon O – 85 tips, 280-point margin
Stef F – 83 tips, 242-point margin
Junior B – 83 tips, 340-point margin
Pat D – 82 tips, 335-point margin
Alan G – 81 tips, 313-point margin
Just four tips separate the top five, and margins are becoming more crucial than ever. Every point counts from here on out!
Round 16 kicks off Thursday night with Port hosting the Blues. Don’t forget to get your tips in early.
Thanks again to everyone for keeping the tipping spirit alive.
