The Tiger Times
Week of September 1, 2024
Hello Ragsdale Families,
This is Noel Keener, the proud principal of Ragsdale High with this week's updates.
We had a wonderful first week! It was so great having students back in the building. Students can enter at 8:55 and are late after the 9:15 bell. Now that the first week of homerooms is over, students will report directly to first block. School is released at 4:15pm.
As a reminder, all Ragsdale students continue to qualify for free breakfast and lunch. They may also bring their lunch. Food deliveries are not permitted by businesses or families during the day. We cannot deliver food items.
As a reminder, anyone checking out students will need to enter the building and present their ID and be listed in PowerSchool in order to check students out. For drivers, the attendance office will need to call a number in PowerSchool to release students. Please log in to PowerSchool to ensure all of your child's information is up to date! Thank you for your understanding.
Checkouts will end 15 minutes prior to the end of the school day. Students will not be allowed to check out after 4:00pm. Instead you can call and ask the office to inform your student of their pickup in the lot.
It is time to purchase your parking pass! See our website or come to the the attendance office for your parking packet. Cost is $50. You must also have a valid drivers license and present your registration.
Clubs and organizations are gearing up for the school year! Are you interested in being a Peer Tutor and you are in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade? This week is application week! See Ms. Pollock and go by her room for an application. Shout out to Mr. Medlin who will be our Beta Club Sponsor this year! More information will be coming soon! Our National Honor Society is gearing up and students will soon be seeking staff recommendations for membership. Be on the lookout!
Ragsdale High School will host a 7 on 7 women's flag football this year. Be apart of history. More information forthcoming. Initial meeting September 9. See Coach Harbaugh or Coach Pfeiffer for more information!
One Cards have been distributed. We are still waiting on a few to arrive. Please have your child bring their OneCard to school every day to scan in every day. We plan to begin later this week. Families please remember that we enforce a minimal dress code. Please speak with your student about our guidelines.
We will begin with tardies this week! Encourage your students to get to school and class on time so that we can maximize learning!
Please look for us on Instagram @ragsdalehigh and Facebook @ lucyragsdalehigh.
We look forward to seeing you Tuesday at 8:55!
Thank you , have a great week, and, as always, TIGER PRIDE!

Peer Tutoring
Peer Tutoring returns! Peer tutoring is a free service provided by our Ragsdale Tiger students to assist their peers who might be struggling in a class. Students can come to Peer Tutoring on their own, and they must have a ride home due to no late busses.
- Offered every Tuesday after school in the Media Center from 4:15 -5:00pm starting on September 10th.
- Almost all subjects can be addressed at any level (i.e., CP, Honors, and AP)
- Teachers are provided in writing notice that their student has attended Peer Tutoring, who the tutor was, how long they stayed, and what material was covered.
If you are interested in being a tutor, consider applying!
- Application week is September 3rd-6th. 10th and 11th graders can pick up applications and recommendation forms in Ms. Pollock's room (A106) that week. 12th graders should see Ms. Pollock in person.
- Applications are due no later than September 9th at 9am and interviews will begin that week.
Question or concerns about Peer Tutoring can be directed to the Peer Tutoring sponsors : Ms. Pollock: pollocr@gcsnc.com and Mrs. van Thillo: vanthis@gcsnc.com
Schedule Change Requests
There will be no more schedule change requests. The only changes that will be made at this point are to change a class the student has already passed. Please remember seniors with open blocks or students with GTCC courses are not allowed on campus during blocks that they don't have a Ragsdale class. They must leave campus, and therefore must provide their own transportation.
