Wildcat Weekly!
Wildcat Newsletter!
We hope you had a great Thanksgiving holiday! There are 10 more school days until our Winter Break so let's make the most of them!
Our attendance leaderboard has tightened up! As you can see from the photo, Grades 3 and 5 are in a virtual tie for daily average attendance for the month. Our other grade levels are not far behind! Please keep stressing the importance regular daily attendance and see our attendance section below.
Our students at Walnut Street have demonstrated incredible generosity and community sprit by organizing a food drive to support veterans in need. These food items were delivered to the Toms River American Legion post 129 on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. With gratitude for the military service of our local veterans, our school community collected non-perishable food items to help provide nourishment and care for those who have given so much to our country. This act of kindness not only helps veterans but also strengthens our sense of togetherness and appreciation for their sacrifices. We are proud of our students, parents, and staff for making a positive impact.
During the month of December, our district is shining a spotlight on generosity! Generosity is a wonderful quality that helps build stronger, more caring communities. It’s all about giving what we can to help others, whether it's time, support, kindness, or material items. In our classrooms, students are engaging in a variety of activities and discussions to learn about the importance of being generous. We are also encouraging students to perform small acts of kindness, such as helping a classmate with their work or writing a thank-you note to someone who has helped them.
As families, you play a crucial role in reinforcing these values at home. Let your children see you helping others, whether it's donating items, offering a hand to a neighbor, or simply being kind. Highlight moments where your child shares or helps; praise their efforts, and talk about how it made the other person feel. Consider a family project where everyone can contribute, like baking cookies for a local shelter or gathering clothes to donate.
Our quote of the week: 'We can only be truly generous when we expect noting in return.' - Muhammad Ali
