Professional Learning Morning/Late Start for Students
Our professional learning morning for staff will take place again this Wednesday, October 9. This means that it is a late start for students. The first bell will ring at 9:20 a.m. with classes starting at 9:25 a.m.
Picture Day is this Wednesday!
Picture Day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9! You can order online prior to picture day at www.kaiserstudio.com. Our Picture Day School ID Code is: 24UPTON25. Otherwise, please send in your picture order form on Picture Day with a check, money order, or cash. Checks should be made payable to Kaiser Studio.
Welcome, Mrs. Martinez-Buenrostro!
Mrs. Marisol Martinez-Buenrostro is joining us as an additional Spanish teacher. She will be teaching Mrs. Mitchell's Kindergarten class, as well as helping out in our other Spanish classes on Tuesdays & Thursdays. We are so glad you are part of our Upton Family!
PTA Fun Run: October 17
Here is the schedule of times for each grade level for the Fun Run on Thursday, October 17:
9:00-9:30 a.m.: 3rd Grade
9:15-9:45 a.m.: 1st Grade
9:30-10:00 a.m.: 5th Grade
9:45-10:15 a.m.: Kindergarten
10:00-10:30 a.m.: 2nd Grade
10:15-10:45 a.m.: Developmental Kindergarten (DK)
10:30-11:00 a.m.: 4th Grade

Now is the time to support the year's biggest PTA fundraiser @ Upton. The Fun Run 2024 team is entering all families and community members who share their child's Upton Fun Run page on their Facebook or Instagram into a drawing to win a tutoring package from Bright Loritos and Tutor Hero.
All you have to do is use #uptonfunrun24 in your post (or in the comments) before October 16th to be entered into the drawing. We will announce the winner at the Fun Run on October 17th!

Halloween
October 31 is a half day for students. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 p.m. We will be having a Halloween Parade at 11:45 a.m., so students will be allowed to come to school wearing their Halloween costumes that day if they would like to do so. Please see the district guidelines below:
Royal Oak Parent Advocacy Committee - October Meeting 10/15 @ 6:30 PM
The Royal Oak Parent Advocacy Committee (ROPAC) is our school district's Parent Advisory Committee - a group made up of parents/caregivers of students with IEPs or 504 Plans, those that want to learn more, and those that think their student may benefit from special education services. ROPAC sincerely welcomes any parent or caregiver with a student(s) in Royal Oak schools to join us in our mission to make this district a destination for students receiving special education services. The PAC's October meeting will be held Tuesday, 10/15 @ 6:30 PM at the Administration Building. We will be following up on our September meeting and sharing some resources/answering your questions. ROHS Homecoming Festivities
The ROHS Homecoming Parade, Tailgate, and Football Game are Friday, October 11th at Royal Oak High School! The festivities kickoff at 5pm with the Homecoming Parade that cruises down Lexington Blvd. The parade features the ROHS Marching Band, cheer team, dance team, and homecoming court as well as many clubs, sports teams, and other organizations at the high school. It ends in front of the stadium where there is a tailgate open to the entire community that includes free food, live music, games, and other fun activities. After the tailgate, please join us as we cheer on the ROHS Ravens Varsity Football Team as they take on Pontiac. Game starts at 7pm.

Blessings in a Backpack
"Blessings in a Backpackā€¯ is a program designed to provide students on the free and reduced lunch program with enough food for three meals a day during the weekends. This program is active in Royal Oak Schools. If you agree to take part in this program during the school year, your child will receive a bag filled with food for the weekend. A bag of food will be put in your child's locker for take home on Fridays. The simple meals may include food like macaroni and cheese, beef ravioli, canned fruit, granola bars, soups, juice and other items. Students will receive a bag every week.
If you would like to have your child participate in this program, fill out the form below and mail it to the board office at 800 Devillen, Royal Oak, MI 48073, or just hit submit on this form. Please be sure to indicate on the form if you child has any food allergies. If your child has a food allergy, you as the parent are responsible for checking all food labels when the food arrives home. Royal Oak Schools, as well as Blessings in a Backpack, will not be held responsible for any accidental food allergen exposure.
