There will be no school for students on Tuesday, May 17th. School is closed for election day.

A giant thank you to the PTO for all the goodies they provided throughout Teacher Appreciation Week May 2nd - 6th! There were gift card raffles on Monday and Tuesday, soft pretzels for snack on Wednesday, breakfast on Thursday and they finished out the week with lunch on Friday. We also are very thankful to all the parents who donated toward making this a special week for teachers and staff!

U.S. School Principals' Day is celebrated every May 1st to recognize the importance of principals and all the work they do for the betterment of the school.

Mr. Palmer received a lot of special thanks from students and staff alike! Here is a photo of some of Mrs. Geers' students delivering a giant card for Mr. Palmer from Kindergarten!

Our Spring Concert took place at the beginning of the month. Some of our third and fourth graders made up our Band, Chorus and Orchestra and put on a wonderful show. Great job by everyone!!

Our students in Kindergarten through Second grade had a sing-a-long event. They enjoyed snacks while singing to songs from popular movies. A BIG 'Thank you' to the PTO for hosting the event. It was a hit!!

There were 74 participants in Math Challenge #14. Ms. Wells, Ms. Atwater, Ms. Curtin, and Ms. Wendling all had 11 participants! Awesome job!

Math Challenge #15 (the final one!) will be due May 18th.

Mr. Blaydon's fourth grade class and Ms. Atwater's second grade class teamed up to make cards to honor our nurses. May 6th - 12th is Nurses' Appreciation Week! Be sure to thank Mrs. Alexis and Mrs. DiSandro for all they do to help keep us healthy and safe! They sure felt the love from all of us here at Tawanka. THANK YOU!!!

It may be raining outside but the girls and boys in Mrs. Neff's Class are having fun during indoor recess. The kindergarten children have been practicing skills which encourage including others and sharing materials.

Here are a few of our classes from last week showing off their support in our Autism awareness shirts.

Our kindergarteners went to Pennsbury Manor for a fun trip. They had fun writing with quill pens, touring William Penn’s home, and watching sheep sheering. Mr. Palmer also joined in on the fun!!

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Neff‘s class were excited to see their artwork hanging up when they arrived at school. There may be a future Van Gogh in there!!

1st graders in Mrs. Curtin's class had some fun outside with bubbles!! They are learning about air and weather with bubbles! Look at all the excitement and smiling faces.

Ms. Mortimer's class had lots of fun making rain clouds in a cup. This was a fun science experiment they did in class. Look out Mother Nature!!

2nd graders in Mrs. Hanna's class had fun using geoboards to create their own shapes as they learned about recognizing shapes !

Ms. Wells class also has been learning about different shapes. They used geoboards as well to create pictures out of shapes!

The students in Mrs. Tryon’s class created portraits for Mother’s Day & Father’s Day using the Pencil Sketch Photo app. Once their photo was transformed into a sketch and printed, they used colored pencils to make their portraits “POP!”

The fourth grade enjoyed showcasing their artwork for the Tawanka Art Show 🎨

The Flying Squirrels have made it into the championships!! The Lumberkings and RoughRiders went into extra innings to determine who would play the Flying Squirrels, but it unfortunately ended in a tie game. Lumberkings and RoughRiders will have another game Monday to see who will play Flying Squirrels in the Final. Good Luck to everyone!!!
