We love our nurses
Mr. Blaydon's fourth grade class and Ms. Atwater's second grade class teamed up to make cards to honor our nurses. May 6th - 12th is Nurses' Appreciation Week! Be sure to thank Mrs. Alexis and Mrs. DiSandro for all they do to help keep us healthy and safe! They sure felt the love from all of us here at Tawanka. THANK YOU!!!
Rain, rain go away!
It may be raining outside but the girls and boys in Mrs. Neff's Class are having fun during indoor recess. The kindergarten children have been practicing skills which encourage including others and sharing materials.
Our kindergarteners went to Pennsbury Manor for a fun trip. They had fun writing with quill pens, touring William Penn’s home, and watching sheep sheering. Mr. Palmer also joined in on the fun!!
Mrs. Neff
Mrs. Curtin
Ms. Mortimer
Mrs. Hanna
2nd graders in Mrs. Hanna's class had fun using geoboards to create their own shapes as they learned about recognizing shapes !
Ms. Wells
Ms. Wells class also has been learning about different shapes. They used geoboards as well to create pictures out of shapes!
Mrs. Tryon
The students in Mrs. Tryon’s class created portraits for Mother’s Day & Father’s Day using the Pencil Sketch Photo app. Once their photo was transformed into a sketch and printed, they used colored pencils to make their portraits “POP!”

Smart but Scattered: Helping Your Children Strengthen
Executive Skills to Reach Their Full Potential
There’s nothing more frustrating than watching your bright, talented son or daughter struggle with everyday tasks like finishing homework, putting away toys, or following instructions at school. Your “smart but scattered” child might also have trouble coping with disappointment or managing anger. Join us with Dr. Peg Dawson because she has great news: there’s a lot you can do to help.
The latest research in child development shows that many kids who have the brain and heart to succeed may lag behind in crucial “executive skills”–the fundamental habits of mind required for getting organized, staying focused, and controlling impulses and emotions. Learn easy to- follow steps to identify your child’s strengths and weaknesses, use activities and techniques proven to boost specific skills, and problem solve daily routines. Small changes can add up to big improvements!
Dr. Dawson will answer the questions:
· What are executive skills?
· Why are they important to academics and life in general?
· How can I help my child reach his/her potential?
Wednesday, May 25th 6:30 PM-7:30 PM
Register in advance for this virtual workshop:
After the presentation, participants that complete a short survey will receive a free copy of Dr. Dawson's book, Smart but Scattered.
Limited to one copy per household.
